IN: 6-year-old fatally shot when parents absent

In Martinsville, Indiana (Indianapolis exurb), today, 11-year-old and 6-year-old brothers reportedly were home alone when the younger boy was fatally shot.

Police have not determined whether the boy shot himself or the older brother may have been involved. The parents were not home at the time, but came to the hospital later.

The 11-year-old in this case was charged with murder in a probable-cause hearing Friday, the day after the shooting.

Charges of neglect are also being considered against the mother and step-father.
