I just (like this morning) started bringing my gun with me to the shower. I use to leave it on the bedside (which is a few feet away) but got to thinking that I don't want to be in a foot race with a burglar to my weapon when the dog starts to bark.
Yup.
I've done the same thing.
It sits on the counter within arms reach.
Hopefully I reach it first if a BG comes in.
The dogs would give me a heads up.
It goes everywhere with me in the house now.
It's sitting on the couch next to me.
I think I'm paranoid....

Never really thought about it, but I lock the bathroom door out of habit, even when I'm alone in the house.

...most burglars brave enough to come in an occupied dwelling...or someone wanting to attack your bones, wouldn't let a little hollow-core door slow them down...you can hit them hard enough with an open palm to pop them open...let alone a kick...I want my P90 near at hand...

When I'm home alone, I generally leave the door open to cut down on steam build-up in the bathroom. Unless it's more than about 80, the window's open, too. Try it sometime. Having a bit of breeze and a dry bathroom at the end is worth the price of a waterproofed G17 and sealed ammo, IMHO...

Hmmm... I wonder if soap and shampoo are valid lubricants? :biggrinjester:

+1 The door is never closed and the mirror is never steamed.

Old trick... Clean the mirror with shaving cream and it won't steam up for a few weeks!!!!

This is just one more reason I'm happily slightly paranoid and also have it in the bathroom when I'm in the shower.

When the bathroom light comes on (seen via skylight or window) the bg knows where you are and probably vulnerable.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- An intruder who was shot and killed after a confrontation with a Duluth woman in her shower was likely stalking her for days and may have other victims,

The woman was getting out of the shower when she was met by a strange man with a kitchen knife, police said. They said there was a struggle in the bathroom, and she fell in the tub.

You're not paranoid, you are prepared.

Living in the urban areas makes more of a necessity than here in the country where I live. But even here in the country bad things can and do happen. I refuse to end up being one of those bad things.

I even carry in my robe pocket when outside with the dog!
And, yes, when I am on the "throne" it is there beside me.

I ALWAYS have at least one firearm within arms reach. The dog does provide additional advance notice of a possible intruder.

Some may consider me paranoid, that's fine. They might consider me differently should something bad go down here. :tiphat:
