Even though this guy is labeled as "mentally disturbed", it makes me wonder how many other situations could be diffused with lollipops. After all, for people to commit crimes, something is probably not right with their thinking.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

Kinda like the deals they were selling called Ghost Targets at the gun show last Saturday.
On topic, police have long used teddy bears to calm upset and frightened children. Not surprised they used lollipops on someone who was unstable.
I remember once I promised one of our town drunks that I would take him to the liquor store if he would go home. That seemed to appease him. He went home (about 1 block down the street from where he was staggering) and we never went to the store. I KNOW he didn't remember the promise, much less even talking to me, the next morning.
