Garland Man, 66, Dies In Police Shooting

Post by Beiruty »

GARLAND (AP) - A 66-year-old Dallas-area man is dead after, according to police, he threatened officers with a gun.
The incident happened Saturday night in a residential neighborhood of Garland, a northeastern suburb of Dallas. A Garland police statement says a caller reported a man waving a pistol around outside. When officers arrived, he allegedly lowered the handgun in the officers’ direction in a threatening manner. The officers fired, fatally wounding the man.
A police statement released Sunday identified the man as 66-year-old James Howard Kincaid. The statement says the officers involved in the shooting will be placed on paid administrative leave pending completion of an investigation.

Sounds like another suicicde by cop. I sometimes wonder if these some of these indivduals, especially the older ones, have some sort of health issue(s) and decide this is a method to end their lives without having to do it themselves. Also, many insurance polices exclude suicide, but would probably pay on a shooting by a police officer. Not sure on accidental death clauses and how this would play into the beneficiary being paid.

Most life insurance policies will pay for a suicide as long as the policy has been in force for more than two years.
