League City: Home invasion armed robbery
In League City Tuesday robbers entered the home of a 74-year-old woman in an assisted living center at 1501 Columbia Memorial Parkway around 10:30 p.m. They robbed the woman at gunpoint but did not injure her.

League City is such a little corner of paradise on earth, what with the random violent crime and pervasive drug trafficking.

Wasn't that way in the early 90's. It's interesting to see how cities decay in the space of a decade.seamusTX wrote:

I don't fear guns; I fear voters and politicians that fear guns.

It is remarkable what a success the "war on drugs" has been. Richard Nixon must be so proud, wherever he is now.

Re: League City: Home invasion armed robbery
League City police released photos (taken from surveillance video) and descriptions of the suspects in this case.
The suspects are described as "as a black man about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds [and] a black woman about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds."

Re: League City: Home invasion armed robbery
There's something funky about this one. There's a whole lot of easier and more lucrative places to do a home invasion in League City besides a gated assisted living/senior apartment complex.

Elderly women generally are easy victims, and these criminals are not Professor Moriarty. According to police reports, they used the victim's stolen credit cards repeatedly, probably yielding many photos.

When I worked at League City we said LC didn't have a "drug problem." "You want drugs?" - "No Problem."seamusTX wrote: League City is such a little corner of paradise on earth, what with the random violent crime and pervasive drug trafficking.

There has NEVER been any lack of drugs in Galveston or Harris County or Chambers or Brazoria
or Ft. Bend ...... You just have to know who to ask.
Re: League City: Home invasion armed robbery
League City doesn't have the market cornered on the drugs, unfortunately it is everywhere. And, more and more violent crime popping up in areas that were not issues before. While the statistics are going down, I think the concentration is spread out more these days and we are seeing it move more and more into the suburbs and bedroom communities.

Re: League City: Home invasion armed robbery
Within living memory the mainland cities of Galveston County were farm communities where people literally rode horses and drove cattle down the roads. If the residents wanted to walk on the wild side, they went to Galveston Island or Houston.
That has not been the case for decades, but the mentality persists that bad things happen only in the "big cities."
League City has the largest population in the county now.
The young male criminal genius in this case was busted yesterday. Police are seeking an arrest warrant for the beauty queen.

Re: League City: Home invasion armed robbery
"Police released surveillance photos of two suspects accused of using the woman’s debit card in League City and La Marque." but the newspaper didn't include the photos with the article. FAIL

Sure they did, along with identifying the suspects by race, height, and weight (ugh). Where are you looking that you didn't see the photos?
The photos also are in the paper edition that lands on my lawn every morning.

Re: League City: Home invasion armed robbery
Jim stated the photos were in the PRINTED version of the paper. Newspapers will frequently will have different information or omit or include something in their online version that was not or was in the printed version.cbr600 wrote:I don't see any pics either. Re: League City: Home invasion armed robbery
The female suspect in this case surrendered Tuesday and was arrested and held on $160,000 bond.

That certainly worked out well for the criminal geniuses.
