Friendswood: Man arrested on felony theft warrant

#1

Post by seamusTX »

In Friendswood (Galveston County) Wednesday a budding rocket scientist was arrested on a felony theft warrant.

In September the 25-year-old man had been stopped while driving and was arrested for driving without a valid license. Police seized electronic products that he had in his car at the time of the arrest.

Police later determined that the electronic products may have been stolen and obtained an arrest warrant.

This week the suspect called the police department to find out whether he could reclaim the items that had been in his vehicle. Police, knowing that he had an open warrant, told him yes.

Bond is set at $5,000.

That said, I often wonder about cases where a traffic stop leads to an arrest that had nothing to do with the original traffic stop. It's like being arrested for resisting arrest without being charged with the offense for which the suspect was arrested.
