Houston: Bad time to be a dog

A woman in north Houston was charged with felony animal cruelty for putting out poisoned dog food that resulted in the deaths of multiple dogs.

That showed 'em.

In an unrelated case, a man is accused of poisoning his neighbor's dog, though he vehemently denies it.

Another man is accused of killing puppies by throwing them off a balcony.

I have no idea whether there is a pattern here. Maybe it is just random. I'm sure a lot of animal cruelty is undetected or unsolved.

Unfortunately, just random events by people without a conscience or any speck of morality.

Since I have been accused (and rightfully so) of liking dogs better than people, I hope they prosicute to the full extent of the law

I must agree. Leash laws are for the benefit of all creatures whether two or four-legged. By the same token, animal cruelty of the same sort should be publicly visited on those heinous tailess bi-peds who would inflict cruelty upon their four legged or winged brethren.

Not quite. Animals escape from fenced yards or houses. In the second case, the man is accused of throwing poisoned food into his neighbor's yard.

The man in the second case should be given poison turkey, ham or whatever in front of his family on Christmas Day. I have absolutely no use for those who are cruel, or abide cruelty, to animals.

FWIW, I have no use for the owners' of animals who have no regard for their neighbors...either.

I have had trouble with neighbors' barking dogs. It's one of the most frustrating neighbor-relation problems.

However, killing isn't the answer. There are plenty of people who would kill someone who killed their dog, without worrying about the consequences.

Also, as these cases demonstrate, it apparently is rather difficult to get away with poisoning animals.
