A woman in north Houston was charged with felony animal cruelty for putting out poisoned dog food that resulted in the deaths of multiple dogs.
That showed 'em.
In an unrelated case, a man is accused of poisoning his neighbor's dog, though he vehemently denies it.
Another man is accused of killing puppies by throwing them off a balcony.

I have no idea whether there is a pattern here. Maybe it is just random. I'm sure a lot of animal cruelty is undetected or unsolved.

Houston: Bad time to be a dog
Fear, anger, hatred, and greed. The devil's all-you-can-eat buffet.

Unfortunately, just random events by people without a conscience or any speck of morality.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Since I have been accused (and rightfully so) of liking dogs better than people, I hope they prosicute to the full extent of the law

A "ruff" time to be a dog in Houston, and except for the guy doing a Michael Jackson with the puppies, those other dogs would have been safe if their owners loved them enough to obey the leash laws.

I must agree. Leash laws are for the benefit of all creatures whether two or four-legged. By the same token, animal cruelty of the same sort should be publicly visited on those heinous tailess bi-peds who would inflict cruelty upon their four legged or winged brethren.Tamie wrote:A "ruff" time to be a dog in Houston, and except for the guy doing a Michael Jackson with the puppies, those other dogs would have been safe if their owners loved them enough to obey the leash laws.
I mean it.

Not quite. Animals escape from fenced yards or houses. In the second case, the man is accused of throwing poisoned food into his neighbor's yard.Tamie wrote:... those other dogs would have been safe if their owners loved them enough to obey the leash laws.

The man in the second case should be given poison turkey, ham or whatever in front of his family on Christmas Day. I have absolutely no use for those who are cruel, or abide cruelty, to animals.seamusTX wrote:Not quite. Animals escape from fenced yards or houses. FWIW, I have no use for the owners' of animals who have no regard for their neighbors...either.

Re: Houston: Bad time to be a dog
I have had trouble with neighbors' barking dogs. It's one of the most frustrating neighbor-relation problems.
However, killing isn't the answer. There are plenty of people who would kill someone who killed their dog, without worrying about the consequences.
Also, as these cases demonstrate, it apparently is rather difficult to get away with poisoning animals.
