NV: Las Vegas police in the news again

#1

Post by seamusTX »

In Las Vegas, around 5:30 a.m. Monday morning, police responded to a report of a man and woman "involved in an argument" in front of a convenience store. The argument appeared to be escalating, according to a police spokesman.

The man was described as white and in his early 30s. He was carrying a cane.

He ignored police commands. They reportedly tasered him with no effect. Then they shot him with beanbag rounds, which also had no effect.

The man then made a "threatening motion" toward the police officers with his cane. One of them responded by shooting the non-compliant subject DRT.

Apparently sunglasses and canes are considered lethal weapons there. It sounds like the guy was high if it's true bean bags and tasers had no effect....either that or that's their latest cover story to justify shooting someone dead who was not presenting a gun. Sheesh! I will never go to that town again. Been there once. It's just plain wrong to support a town with hard earned money that is rotten to it's core. Just my 2 cents.

Heavy clothing can have the same effect.

Las Vegas has overnight temperatures in the 40s now.

Obviously the deceased made a fatal mistake by failing to obey the commands of the police officers.

Can you explain that statement?

Most people, when they receive news that the police shot a drugged-up non-compliant "subject" or armed man think, So what else is new?

Even on this forum we tend to make snap decisions about whether the victim of a police shooting asked for it or not.

Well, based purely on speculation and what I read it looks like the Vegas police think that escalating to shooting someone is pretty common. However I do have to give them credit for not skipping non-lethal methods before resorting to lethal.
My problem, once again based only on speculation and what I just read, is that they resorted to it in the end.
