Tennessee woman shoots homeless man

Her father, who is an attorney had this to say:
“She did say she closed her eyes when she shot both times, but they were warnings, and she thought she pointed away from him,” he said.
I've heard it all now. Close your eyes and shoot at someone, then claim it was a warning shot.
Do what you say you're gonna do.

Her father is Jesse Qauckenbush, an Amarillo attorney.

I'm not sure of the law in TN, but under TX law, there would be a ton of problems for the young woman.

First, "warning shots" are never appropriate. Unless the law is different in TN, then this young woman's lawyer (father) is an idiot for making that statement.

Second, I think any reasonable person would likely conclude that closing your eyes before intentionally firing a gun is pretty much the definition of "reckless".

Third, and most important. If you are sitting in a vehicle that is running, and someone comes to your passenger window to start threatening you, just drive away. This woman had the time to exit the vehicle and then shoot the guy who was "threatening" her. By all accounts he wanted her to go somewhere else. I find it hard to believe that she had no opportunity to simply drive away.

Something smells pretty fishy here. I mean, even besides the lame story of firing two warning shots with your eyes closed and nailing the guy solidly with both shots.
... is being held on a $25,000 bond.
So she's driving a Porsche. Daddy's an attorney. And between the both of them, they can't scrape up twenty-five hundred bucks to pay a bail bondsman to get her out of the pokey?

Hmmm. Maybe this might have something to do with daddy being in no hurry to bail out his little girl:
...Quackenbush was arrested in 2013 for assault after a disagreement with her mother...
Or maybe they just can't find a bondsman who is willing to take a chance on someone who is a rapper AND a country singer? Say what now??? "rlol"
Quackenbush, an aspiring rapper and country singer...
Where's Paul Harvey when you really need him. "And now you know, the REST of the story."

I'd say she is in trouble based on the fact they mentioned the Porsche.

The rapper / country singer thing threw me off as well. I didn't know that those two went together. Then again, I'm not completely current on the music scene. I'll have to ask my teenagers who are much more up to date on these things.

Her fight with her mom might help to explain why Daddy would make a public statement that seems to incriminate her with references to "warning shots", etc.

Here's the part of the article I don't get:
Quackenbush, an aspiring rapper and country singer.......
Isn't that sort of a major non-sequitor? Here are some similar statements:
  • Quackenbush, an aspiring ballerina and rodeo clown......
  • Quackenbush, an aspiring stadium hotdog vendor and movie star......
  • Quackenbush, an aspiring police officer and bordello owner.......
  • Quackenbush, an aspiring politician and missionary.......
  • Quackenbush, an aspiring stripper and pastor......
  • Quackenbush, an aspiring lawyer and humanitarian.....
I could go on, but I think I made my point.

Here's another story about the incident.

http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/cr ... 656242001/

It's 3:00 AM and she is dropping a friend off at her car, she gets out of her car, loads a magazine into her gun, shoots a man twice in the abdomen, then goes to a restaurant, comes back later, and finds police tape around the friends car, and claims she didn't know she shot the guy.

Yeah, sounds reasonable to me.

Well yeah, since she was shooting with her eyes closed she didn't "see" it happen. :biggrinjester:

Apparently it's a thing (if you are young enough to have been raised watching Eminem and taking him seriously, instead of our age and thinking in terms of 80's parodys like Vanilla Ice). There was even a short lived reality tv series about this one;

The guy is about the size of William "The Refrigerator" Perry, so I guess no one's had the huevos to accuse him of cultural appropriation.....

The way most "country music" sounds coming from Nashville it is not far removed from rap/hip hop.
