Shots fired at BLM protest in Dallas

I lost a friend last night. He leaves a wife and two daughters, 14y and 10y. He was only 2-3 years from retirement. He didn't talk much about the job. I knew he worked at Love Field before, but didn't know he did foot stuff and didn't think he would have been anywhere near that last night.

Extreme sorrow and anger is what I'm feeling this morning.

So sorry for the loss of your friend and praying for his family and all those affected by this brutal assault on our law enforcement personnel who so bravely put their lives on the line for us all.

Detonating that mess of a human was OK. It wasn't carpet bombing, it was a directed strike with a weapon of availability against a single, defined target.

The button on the robot controller was just a different kind of trigger.

My worries are what bombs he's left behind, not the bomb that pushed him all too gently into the hereafter.

And, of course, my worries and my prayers focus on the wide circle of victims. Kids now fatherless, homes now emptied of happiness, friends now forever to be mourned.

Am I the only one a little unsettled by the fact that the PD used a bomb against the guy? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he got taken out and I mourn the officers lost, but this just rubs me wrong.

I would have liked to seen him taken alive so he could rot in prison or at least the next 20 years before being put to death. I also would have liked for him to have faced the families he destroyed in court, but that may have been too much for them to deal with. IDK, though, maybe some of them would need that for their own healing process.

However, there may have been circumstances that would have placed too much risk on anyone trying to take him alive, so, no. I don't have much of a problem with it.

I have no problems at all with the robot delivering the bomb, enough LEO's were already killed and hiurt and we did not need another drop of innocent blood shed. The unfortunate part is they will most likely need a new robot.......

I think what is unnerving isn't that the cops used it in this particular case, but the fact that they have remote controlled bombs at their disposal is a little discomforting. Also its another example where the police are allowed to militarize and we aren't. Afterall the 2nd amendment is supposed to be about us being able to defend ourselves against tyrannical governments.

Remember when Philadelphia PD dropped a bomb on the MOVE headquarters in Philly and set the whole block on fire. I think MOVE was some Black Power group in the 80s. So looks like the PDs have been using bombs for a while. Wait till they get Predator drones and Hellfire missiles...

Interesting. Fixed 10rd mag standard and no pistol grip. Mine has a bayonet. But otherwise not semi-automatic assault weapon under the 1994 definition. We really need to ban these too. Weapons of war have no place in our parking garages and streets.

My daughter's father in law, a pastor in DFW, posted this in social media. I'm sure everyone here shares his sentiment, but I was especially moved by his words and asked him for his permission to share it here.

A Call to Pray

Let’s pray for the injured from last night’s shooting. Let’s pray for the families of those who were killed – comfort and peace.
Let’s pray for all of our men and women in blue. They often step into harm’s way – something particularly true at the current time. May our LORD protect them and keep them safe.
And to my friends in blue, THANK YOU! Thank you for serving and protecting! Thank you for doing it with integrity and excellence! Thank you for your courage! Thank you for treating people with dignity! Thank you for defending life and freedom! I grieve the death of your law enforcement brothers. I grieve for the injured. I grieve for their families. I am angered at the disgusting assault against life, against authority, against innocence.
Let’s pray for our governing authorities – that they will govern in such a way “that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:2-4).
Peace, the dignity of every person (inclusive of our men and women in blue!), the freedom to live unto God, and gospel freedom – these are the marks of a great culture. Pray that our leaders would take us into a richer experience of them.
To my fellow pastors: Let’s be voices of grace and truth! But let’s be instruments of peace! The angry among us need to be encouraged toward civil dialogue and peaceful resolution. Let us defuse hostility, not fuel it. And while conversations about social justice are in order, let’s be careful to not profile law enforcement officers in a disparaging way. They deserve better! It is disappointing to see/hear anti-blue commentary (explicitly or implicitly) from anyone – especially pastors. The great, great majority of these men and women need (and deserve) our prayer, affirmation and support!
