Linke is a dead end.
I'm not too surprised... It's 3 years old, and it seems like a lot of news places have links that expire after a while now.
I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

As you may have noticed, I like to keep everything in one thread. Sorry, its an old habit from long ago when moderators wanted it that way, probably had something to do with computer memory.

Plus every story has a beginning and an end, seems neater to keep it all together.

I wasn't complaining! Well, not towards you, anyway. It would be nice if major news outlets wouldn't drop URLs like that.

Ditto, and I didn't realize until after I had clicked in the link that this was an old thread. My apologies.

Oh come on.. Last time I went to the movies it cost me nearly 700,000 for the tickets, drinks and extra butter popcorn.

Aurora massacre survivors end up owing theater $700K after suing

The court approved the $700K Cinemark was requesting. The plaintiffs had a chance to actually receive some money, instead of paying Cinemark's bills, but one of the plaintiffs got greedy and blew up the deal.

The linked article appears in a Duluth newspaper, but was actually written by Los Angeles Times reporter, so of course boohoos the outcome.

“Theaters aren’t any safer,” Weaver said. “It’s almost like everything was for naught.”
What exactly would make theaters (or any other business/public space) safer? How about banning all licensed handgun owners from carrying inside the theater (talking about you AMC Theaters)? Yeah- that would make the next mass shooter think twice about going into a (AMC) theater and opening fire.

Cinemark, tragically, has experience in these events and for now still allows LTC concealed carry in Texas theaters.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

Colorado's civil litigation over movie theater massacre ends

Cinemark offered to not enforce the $700k judgment in their favor if the plaintiffs agreed not to appeal the trial verdict against them. This time the plaintiffs took the deal.

Only because the winner agreed to let them off if they didn't pursue an appeal. That's called using leverage to negotiate. I bet others will think twice before filing such a suit. Sometimes one has to consider the bigger picture and not be too narrowly focused.

Go ahead, losers, appeal. Convert your $700k bill to $1.4M. Sometimes you need to drive the point home.

I had to go back and read what happened. Shooter bought a ticket, sat in the front row until the movie began. Once the movie begin he left through the emergency exit and prop it open. He then went to his car for 30 minutes to get armed and came back into the theater do the emergency exit door . The exit door did not have an alarm nor any cameras. Sounds like a decent case to me, but hey I'm not a judge.
I tell my wife that I am and she gives me "that look".
