CHL Instructor Changes
I see via the CHL 90, instructor renewal form, that the state is going to now enforce the existing rule of having some form of certification for handgun training in addition to what the DPS gives us. I heard that this is the pre-cursor to all New and Renewal's students having to have the NRA Basic handgun course or similar, prior to taking the CHL or renewing. Anyone else heard this?
Re: CHL Instructor Changes
Yes, there are several topics in the Instructors Corner section on it. Here is one of them http://texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=63396" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You do have to be a certified handgun instructor via NRA, TCLEOSE or other authorized agecny before taking the initial class to become a CHL instructor. However, for renewals they have not come out and officially stated if you will have to have one of those certifications or not.
I am going to lock this topic and you can continue in the other topic.
