I am honored to be nominated for reelection to the NRA Board of Directors and I respectfully request your vote and your support. The ballots are going out in the NRA Magazines now and if you selected the digital version, you will receive your ballot by First Class Mail.

I have set up a page covering some of my involvement with Second Amendment advocacy and I would appreciate your support. I also ask your support of two other people, William "Bill" Carter and Curtis Jenkins. Information about these men is included in the NRA Election Page.

Respectfully,
Chas.

Chas - You'll certainly have my vote! And thanks for all that you do, not only locally but across our great State and the nation for helping keep our rights intact.

It has been a true privilege to Serve with Charles on the NRA Board of directors. He is rock solid on the 2A and serves all NRA Members well, especially his fellow Texans. I also whole heartedly support Chas' other two picks for re-election, Bill Carter and Curtis Jenkins. Again, two rock solid candidates who have the 2A and NRA Members best interest at heart. Three great choices.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those on this forum who voted for me in last year's NRA Board election, my deepest appreciation.

Respectfully,

Dwight Van Horn

Welcome to the Forum, Dwight. And yes, I was one of many who voted for you last year.

Unless Charles L. Cotton turns democrat and accepts an Obama cabinet position, he knows he will always have my support. That's because I have witnessed firsthand his unwavering work in the protection and promotion of our Second Amendment rights.

I sincerely appreciate both of you naming other nominees that you recommend. That's a political balancing act, I know.

The mini-bios published along with the ballot in NRA magazines are helpful, but they inevitably end up seeming homogenous and offering little help to those who are not NRA insiders. I've been on non-profit boards before and am active currently on one that's Texas-based. Pareto's Law holds true: 80% of the real work is done by 20% of the board members.

Each year I find myself struggling to choose those select NRA candidates I feel will most effectively represent the NRA's principles, and who will fight to uphold the Second Amendment.

Some nominees have enough online presence to glean in-depth information, some don't.

I vote only for for those in whom I have confidence; the rest of the ballot markers are left blank.

I recommend others do the same. This isn't a test where coloring in more dots improves your odds of guessing a correct answer.

The NRA ballot is purely--and correctly--by the numbers. Total votes are counted. That means if you randomly vote for nominees to round-out your ballot, you will have diluted votes for the candidates you really wanted.

Do your research, and vote only for those nominees that you know you support.

Thanks Dwight, I appreciate your support.

Members, Dwight is the best ballistics expert in the world. He and his work are the reason so-called "ballistic fingerprinting" and micro-stamping were shown to be nothing more than an anti-gun scam. It's no exaggeration to say that without his efforts, many states would likely have bought into an Al Gore Class Fraud on American gun-owners.

We have a lot of very good folks on the Board, but like any other organization, some do more work than others. Sometimes this is due to the committees and subcommittees to which they are assigned, while at other times it's just differences in personalities, available time, etc.

I tend to endorse 2 or 3 people I know to be critical to our efforts, but whose names are not household words. Don Saba, David Coy and Carol Bamberry are great examples from a prior election. I've already talked about how vitally important Dwight Van Horn's work is to gun-owners and I could list others. NRA Board Member positions are all "at large" positions, so only the top 25 are elected. For this reason, I don't list more than 2 or 3 each election.

I'm a member, not sure about the voting member. There must be something I'm not aware of. :read:
