Outdoor FMJ North Dallas?
Any outdoor ranges allow FMJ rifle ammo in the north Dallas area?
And sorry for my blatant ingnorance, but what's the issue with FMJ? Does it bounce around too much?
Thanks

Only place I know of in North Dallas that's outdoors and lets you shoot FMJ is Gibsons's Outpost in Mesquite. The owners are a bit odd, but in general, it's the exact opposite of Garland Public Shooting Range (where the rangemasters will watch you with a stopwatch to see if you're shooting .003 seconds too fast)

Gonna have to try Gibsons. I've always heard about it but never been......they have a site? What do they offer in terms of pistol/rifle ranges? Fees?

You could drive over to APG in Greenville.zeroskillz wrote:yionks mesquite is a touch far, but I'll have to go check it out. Shooting an AR indoors just leaves me wanting...
might be time for a drive out to APG when I can find some time.
Thanks!

Gibsons is located on Lawson Rd between hwy. 80 and I-20 in Mesquite.age_ranger wrote:Gonna have to try Gibsons. I've always heard about it but never been......they have a site? What do they offer in terms of pistol/rifle ranges? Fees?
Facilities:
Pistol: 5, 10 and 15 yd ranges
Rifle: 50, 100 and 200 yd ranges
Covered firing line and cease fires are called about every 15 minutes.
Fees: Range card--$6.00 per year and then $10.00 per visit for all day.
The 200 yd rifle range will cost you an additional $10.00. You
get one target with the $10.00 range fee. There only 4 or
5 200 yd positions.
I don't think they have a web site and their phone number is
972-222-8127. Hope this info is helpful.

Their son has a very bad attitude problem. Doris is okay until you do something to piss her off like change shooting benches without checking with her or Frank first. I forgot to add to my first post that rifles of any cal. are not allowed on the pistol range and shotguns and .50 cal sniper rifles are not allowed on the range.

Our range is indoor, not outdoor, but the gist of the issue with rifle FMJs is that hits short of the target can "skip" the berm and go a looooooong way. SPs and HPs more prone to stay down.
