In the DFW area should be open this summer, great idea and well thought out.

I remember someone else mentioning this range a little while back. That might make for an interesting birthday party for my daughter.

Wild West Kids Birthday Party Package: $250 for 2 hours up to 15 kids. Ages 8 to 14 only. Parent must accompany child in shooting lane. Pizza, snacks, drinks can be catered, and are charged at cost. Birthday cake may also be ordered and is charged at cost.

They are also participating in the National Take Your Daughter To The Range Day event - so I guess they don't mind the lil darlin's shooting real guns :)

My guess if this lady would not be to happy that my 5yr old shots occasonally (with very strict rules) He has been very responsible when going to my friends house for this. He knows you break ANY rule and we leave. Kids can be tought at a young age to respect guns and use them safely. The owner of the range I shot at started teaching his son at 2yrs old.

I signed up for there e-letter. they are right up the hwy from me and it sounds like it will be a nice place

Poor Juan Williams (who I generally like, even though I usually disagree with him) felt that this sort of thing would bring about more Columbines.

I taught my kids to shoot at a young age. They loved going to the range for maybe 3-4 months. Then the cold weather came and they got bored/lost interest. You know how kids can be. Now I can't even drag them to the range. But I don't have any worries about them being in a house (mine or someone else's) with guns. Their curiosity is pretty well satisfied. Safety and "What to do if" is pretty well ingrained. Guns are just "something dad likes to do".

Taking the mystery out of it, making it not-taboo, providing education.... saves lives.

My kids have been going to the range ever since they could stand. Good parenting starts with teaching kids and guns are no different.
The trick with kids is to keep it interesting with moving breakable targets so you have less time in front of the guns and more behind them

Some people take to it and others don't. I come from a large family and we were all taught to shoot at a young age. Over the years, my interest in shooting has waxed and waned, but I always have come back to it. I am the only sibling that shoots on a regular basis. To my knowledge, two brothers own guns. One has a CHL, the other lives in California.

Depending on who is invited [and their parents], a Gun Range Birthday party could be a whopping sucess or failure. Before setting it up, I would encourage the parents to keep in mind that "It's for the children".

I would encourage a "take to the range day" rather than a group event. IMO, teaching a child about gun safety, handling and shooting is better with ono-to-one instruction.
