On Target - Ft. Worth

Went up to Ft. Worth this weekend to visit a friend of mine and we decided to go out and exercise our Colts a bit. Didn't feel like dealing with a certain range south of Ft. Worth so I talked him into trying the indoor range just down the road from Benbrook (much closer to his place). Turned out to have been an excellent idea. Nice place with up to date equipment and a nice loooooong pistol range. No AC in the ranges so I imagine it's a morning only kind of place in the summer. Staff was polite and very no-nonsense. Range fees weren't bad (I got out for under $14 for the range bit...total was more since I found the purple bag my wife has been wanting) Probably contributes highly to the distinct lack of yahoos I noted. Always a welcome thing. Another nice sight was the L-1 office just inside the building before you even get to the gun shop & range. All in all a very nice trip.

I don't know much about the ranges in Ft. Worth. Is the name of the range "On Target" or what is the name of the range. The only range I know in Ft. Worth is Winchester?

Glad you were able to find the bag your wife wanted :anamatedbanana

"On Target" is actually aways south of Ft Worth on Hwy 377. South of Benbrook, going towards Granbury.

The little flyer with the prices, etc that made its way into my bag says 'On Target Firearms Training Academy, Inc.' as the full name with 'On Target' as the large print splash name.

It's exactly where Crossfire says, on Hwy 377 a few miles south of Benbrook.

I suppose I've gotten a bit jaded in my definition of 'near' and 'far' since moving from a town of 12,000 population to Houston. 'Near' means driving less than my daily commute these days, which I will admit is longer than driving to the next town over used to be growing up ;)

On Target is actually in Wheatland (Whiskyflats) Texas. Very well run and proffesional place. Went to them when Texas went CHL and did all my renewals up untill the last one. My current FFL is just down the road from me a bit (Acton) and he also is a CHL instructor as well as a great guy.
On Target is pretty well stocked or can get what they don't carry as most anyone can.

Someone mentioned ShootersChoice off of 35 @ 28th, I shoot there when meeting up with a shooting buddy. Not my favorite range as the lighting isn't very well kept and the air quality can get real bad if the ventalation system isn't on. The on/off switch is accessable to anyone that enters the range. If can get quite windy and very cold in the winter time so it tends to get turned off by the patrons. Bad air quality is hard on me at my age. Have become good friends with one part time employee That works Sundays or did.

I've also been to Winchester Shooting Range quite a few times and much prefer it's operation. They have two lanes for rifles and lots of pistol ranges. The lighting and ventalation are always good. The place is very well run with the employee's alway very helpful and never an attitude. I've nevr rented from them but they have a very large selection to choose from there.
