I'm thinking this would be a great deal to buy and introduce my wife to shooting since she has expressed interest lately.

I was excited about making my first groupon purchase. Regular range time is $16/hr, so $7/hr sounds good to me.

Then I read the terms of the deal:

For all options, customers can bring their own guns, but must use ammunition purchased at Spring Guns and Ammo; one box of 9mm ammo starts at $14.

Naw, bad deal for me. I reload my own ammo. My cost for 9mm runs about $1.75 per 50 -- and a similar price for .45 ACP. So I would still be better off paying the full $16/hr.

•Eye and ear protection rental (a $1 value) should be included with gun rental, at that price
•One box of 9mm ammunition (a $14 value) $10 at Walmart for domestic, less for imports
•Two additional targets (a $1 value) maybe

Total value? Around $20. Maybe $25 tops.

I looked at this deal not for the regular customers but as a way to get new blood in to the sport of shooting. I sent it to atleast 3 or 4 people who have been saying they wanted to get into shooting.
