I'll try and keep it short.
Saturday made it into one of my top ten days ever. My sister is 40y and has always been terrified of guns. Therefore, her 16y daughter has never shot a gun before. And then there's my 9y daughter.
Saturday was the day for all three and I was lucky enough to be there for all of them.
My sister isn't completely over her fears, but she's okay. She shot a little .22 pocket semi-auto, her husband's 9mm Ruger, my .40 Glock 22, and a Marlin .22 semi-auto rifle.
My niece shot all of the same except for my Glock. She shot the 9mm really well and is even trash talking me on Facebook. She talked about what a great time she had and I added that she did very and shot almost as good as me. She then claimed she shot better than me. I suggested we return to the range and her reply was, "so I could beat you again?" I could only be so proud if she did out shoot me.
My little 9y daughter was just as apprehensive as the other two, but seemed to get over that a bit easier. I was hoping that her first gun was going to be the Marlin, but she could not get the stock to her shoulder and reach the trigger. The only gun she could hold on this day was the little pocket .22. I took less time than I had hoped, but while I was helping my niece with the Marlin my little girl loaded the little pocket gun and started shooting all on her own. After that it was all we could do to get out of her way. We were there for almost 3 hours and she wanted to keep shooting. We had to leave, though, because they were closing.
All three want to go again, so it looks like I need to get some more ammo. My daughter and I took a trip out to Bass Pro to look at some small handguns on Sunday. She said that she didn't think there was hardly any recoil from that little .22 at all, so I'm thinking I may go up to a .380 that I can carry as a bug and she can have fun shooting too.

Love to hear about women overcoming their fears and/or learning that it's darned fun to shoot guns. Way to go, C-dub!

Re: Three girls and a guy. Range Report!
The whole thing started because I asked my BIL if he wanted to go to the range with me. I was shocked, as was he, when my sister asked if she could come too. My BIL had a bad headache and didn't want to come, but by then my sister was all psyched and said she wanted to come anyway. I told her to bring her daughter along and again I was surprised when she actually brought her.TLynnHughes wrote:![]()

You should be proud...for a number of reasons. It will be fun to watch the progress. Nothing beats seeing the "new shooter smile."C-dub wrote:I'm so proud that my sister that she trusted me that much. She's awesome!!! Who knows what's next, ..... CHLs for both?
