I'll second that recommendation. I bought an EOTech there and he offered to mount it for me while I was waiting for a lane. I forgot to bring something to adjust my sight and the RO kindly produced a leatherman on request. The range is closely monitored, and it's well worth the trip for those in the Austin area.

The only reason I go there is cause I am waiting on my Austin Rifle Club membership, and I should be getting it this thursday so I don't see myself going to Reds again. Reds served its purpose for me, but compared to the range I went to in lubbock it was to expensive and had poor acoustics. I am not trying to say Reds is a bad range, if you need to check out some work you just did on your pistol or rifle its a great place to go, and its got an AC. I just cant afford to go their on a regular basis.

I have had a couple of issues at Reds, the staff always seems to be rude, an example being last time I went I was told by the RCO that I "suck at shooting" after that I put three shots through the same hole, wished him well, left and never came back. The prices are also very high I found that Lone Star Gun Range to be a much better option even though it is a longer drive.

Sir, did they inform you of the Frequent Shooter Discount Program? I'd imagine 'things' are a bit more expensive in Austin compared to Lubbock, at least I've found that true compared to SATX,

... just say'n

Well, no one had complaints about my shoot'n. Of course, most were center mass. BTW, where is the Lone Star Gun Range? TIA :patriot:

I've been to Red's and Red's North many times. They're good ranges with generally good staff. They tend to have younger guys working there on the line, and sometimes they can seem a bit cocky. I always recommend saying hi to the RSO whenever you go into the range area.

As for prices, they're pretty typical for an indoor range.

Speaking of Reds: The Austin Sure Shots, a women's only pistol league, meets bi-weekly at alternating Reds locations. They're a fun bunch of ladies -- so if you're of the fairer sex, it's a GREAT social group to hang out with! (find them on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/austinsureshots" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ).

If, my step-daughter ever sends in her completed docs for CHL application I'll let her know about the Austin Sure Shot's. Based upon my gender Austin Sure Shots is not an option for me :tiphat:

Are you talking about the membership that they offer? ARC is $100/year and I can go out there whenever I want sun up to sun down M-S, a much better deal in my opinion.

ARC is an outdoor range, but the shooting areas are covered so it blocks some of the heat. They are located in Manor right outside of Austin, I live around 35th and Mopac and its about 20min drive for me. ARC is a private range so you have to be a member or a guest of a member to go, if you want to check it out I would suggest you attend one of the matches they hold that are open to the public. Here is there website if you want to check them out http://austinrifleclub.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

She doesn't need a CHL to shoot with the ladies, just sayin.

Paul, again thx!
Ikd, thx... she has taken the class, fingerprints, docs filled out but I guess is procrastinating simply completing the process. I will tell her about the Annie Oakley bunch ;-)
