Range Report 07/02/2010 - Marksman Indoor Range

#1

Post by Kevinf2349 »

My good lady and I decided to take a trip to the range today (as I got let out of work early for the holiday :anamatedbanana )

We had two objectives

1) Shoot the snot out of the new Taurus 709SS
2) Try and shoot the snot out of the Bersa Thunder 390 CC

We arrived at the range about 5:30 pm to find it empty! Nobody shooting and only 2 other customers in the store

I picked up some S&B 380 ammo and paid for us both to shoot.

My wife took control of the Taurus while I decided to try the 'just returned from the doctors' Bersa. We also took the XD9 and a G30 along for some light relief from the ickle guns.

The Bersa already had some Blazer 95 Gr steel FMJ in the magazine (I hate carrying an empty gun) and so I decided what the heck and decided to try it out before the S&B. The Taurus was given a hearty meal of WWB 115 Gr FMJ.

I levelled the Bersa at the target, booger hook on bang switch, squeeze... :fire strange racking sound and there was another round in the chamber! :woohoo , pulled the go gadget again and again, :fire clickity clack, ready! All told we put 50 rounds through the Bersa and it performed flawlessly! :anamatedbanana :thewave :anamatedbanana :clapping: Talk about joy unbounded! My wife shot it without issue too. To say we were pleased would be an understatement. It is a good feeling to know that the gun will be able to re-enter the carry rotoation again. Even my wife said..."we are keeping it!" :thumbs2:

At this point I must give a shout out again to Colorado Gun Works for their recent warranty work and wonderful customer service. If you have a Bersa, this is definately the place to send your gun. :thumbs2:

The Taurus had it's first range trip since we bought it two weeks ago. My finding are that the gun is LOUD...very LOUD, it performed extremely well if just on FTF in the first magazine. The gun is definately 'lively' and shooting slightly low at 3 yards but we put that down to 'new gun syndrome' rather than the gun itself. The gun isn't exactly the nicest gun to shoot but that was half expected and the addition of a pacymar (sp?) grip certainly reduced the harshness and made the gun so much more pleasant to shoot. :thumbs2:

The Sprigfield XD9 and the Glock 30, of course, felt so much smoother in the hand and were far more accurate. Of course both guns ran perfectly and both shot accurately.

There was one other person came in while we were there but other than that we had our own private, air conditioned range this evening.

All in all a great night's shooting. Confidence is growing in the Bersa and it is such a relief to finally be able say that "t wasn't us, it really WAS the gun". "rlol"

After we had shot we had a good chat with the guy behind the counter (not sure of his name but he was most helpful). He fitted the grip to the Taurus and let my wife go back in and try it out. He even gave us some 9mm to do so. Now THAT is great service.

All guns are now cleaned and back ready for action.

Have a safe and happy 4th July everyone. Stay safe and God bless America. :patriot:

Glad to hear that your Bersa now goes bang! :fire I have a Bersa too so thanks for the info on where to get repairs made if ever needed. :clapping: So far, I've not had any problems with my little Bersa. Looking forward to cold weather so I can use it as a carry again, as well as the G26. Summer is the LCP carry. Easy to "hide" in the skimpest of clothing. Must have been nice to shoot at a "private" range. "rlol"

It was good to have the range to ourselves but sometimes you meet the nicest people at the range too.

I was holding my breath reading this and let out a sigh of relief
to hear that the Bersa is finally running right.

I hope it ends up being just as reliable as your Glock and XD.
Thanks for the report.
