What will become of The Bullet Hole when the city decides to annex that portion of San Antonio? We all know its a matter of time.

Has anyone else noticed the school that is going up almost right across the street from them? Is this a problem?

Maybe they will get rid of it. I have been there and I must say that the employees were extremely rude and disrespectful and the actual range itself was less than stellar and completely unsafe (multiple people waving guns around and flashing others).

Ummm, I presume you mean "sweeping" others? "Flashing" others means something completely different!

No I meant flashing. I have heard it called many things...flashing, flagging, sweeping etc. I happen to use flashing as nobody was using a broom out there.

Been many times and haven't had a rude encounter yet. They continue to make great improvements to all of the ranges. There is a school being built across the road and up the hill about 1/4 mile. I hope the range can remain. I think it is a great range.

Was out there this AM.

Corrected misspelling

The firing line at the Bullet Hole is not the safest place, which is why I rent the bays. $10 gets you two hours and you are by yourself. You can shoot anything you want, any way you want. I've done some training out there that you really can't do from the main line. I've never had any issues with the staff...

I had no idea about the bays. I may have to try one. My wife doesn't like the line either since you're being peppered with shells all the time.

I have never had problems with the staff, but I do know that one of the guys there gets a little stressed out when he has to do more than one thing at a time. I can see how that may come across as rudeness.

I just know that things are beginning to get built up out there. My wife and I are in the process of building a house about 4 miles outside of 1604 off Potranco. They're widening Potranco starting any week now. There's a shopping center going in at 211 & 1604 within the next year. 211 is finally going to be extended to Helotes.

It's just a matter of time before SA decides they want in on that action.

I'm with XtremeDuty.45 on Bullet Hole. I used them for about 3 years and was never impressed primarily because of safety issues on the firing line and having brass thrown all over me from other shooters on the line. I guess more than anything else, they never had a range master on the range when I had problems and did not check out issues when I brought them to the cashiers attention. The final straw for me was an episode that took place behind the scenes on their forum where one of their employees was really harassing me about a comment I made on the forum. After trying to resolve the issue a couple of times, I told them to remove my user ID and that I was cutting up my Bullet Hole ID card that afternoon. I've been on lots of forums/web sites and never been that angry about how a forum admin/employee treated me. Maybe I'm judging them on one major mistake, a few safety issues, and inconveniences, but I just can't bring myself to go back. I must admit that they were in the process of making lots of changes about the time I quit going and I wish them the best because they do offer some advantages in terms of cost and convenience.

If i am not mistaken the city has to provide 7 (?) years before they expand, to all business' and residence. No word yet.

And you will find more than a few changes at the Buleltt Hole, new staff, improved pistol line. Check it out, then redecide if you are done with the place.

As far as being peppered with brass...for me not a big deal. it's the price you pay to enjoy this 2nd amenment freedom.

Flying Brass - It may not be a big deal you, but being hit by other people's brass is not a price I pay at any of the ranges that I frequent. In my mind, partitions between shooters are a safety device. They can reduce the possibility of injury to people on the firing line or standing behind the firing line. Flying brass can also be a distraction to new shooters and has the potential to startle someone enough to accidentally pull the trigger. During the time I went to Bullet Hole I noted several ladies and a few men doing the hot brass dance while waving their gun around. I consider episodes like that a safety issue that could be reduced or prevented with partitions. Yes, people should dress for the range, but most folks new to shooting don't think about those types of things initially.

Trying them again - Based on your note, if they address the flying brass issue I would give them a whirl.

YMMV! :tiphat:

Give it a shot!

Unfor there will be a fair amount of brass flying on a busy day...there are no partitions set. Try for the last 7.5 yd spot next to the 15yd section..usually not that busy. should be casing free zone for ya.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess you work for the Bullet Hole... :cheers2:

so, any chance you can hook us up with a "TexasCHLForum Members Only Weekend Bay Reservation"? I'd love to take out some of my family (new shooters) and I'd rather have them in a bay with me while instructing them and somehow I always get there when all the bays are taken (even right at 10am)

I'll even be happy to pre-pay!

Now that sounds like a good time.

I've never had a problem there. Then again, we've usually been in a bay. This way we can get some scattergun use in too.

I bet it will be granfathered in.

Next time I go I'm going to get a bay. Last time I was at the range we called for a seize fire and I went to place my target at fifteen yards turned around to see an idiot practicing aiming two spots over from where
I was. I was irritated!

Now the wife and I go to basspro twice a week or more. I like it much better but still go to b.h. For rifle stuff.
