American Shooting Centers gets new owner

Houston Business Journal - by Casey Wooten Editorial Intern

Houston recreational shooting facility American Shooting Centers has been purchased by a private investment group.
The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
Purchasing group managing partner Ed Arrighi said that, after watching the strong growth of recreational shooting worldwide, his group was looking for a facility that appealed to a mass audience.
"We hope to bring some of the theme park experience into what we believe is a shooting-themed park," Arrighi said.
Established in 1980 by previous owner Ralph O'Connor along with other local businesspeople and located on 544 acres leased from Harris County inside George Bush Park, ASC has grown to become one of the largest recreational shooting facilities in Texas.
The purchasing group said it plans to maintain ASC's close relationship with the Army Corps of Engineers, which is responsible for the flood plain on which ASC's facilities are located.

"Theme Park" makes me think of Disneyland, but I'm glad to see someone using some imagination to stimulate interest in the shooting sports. ASC is a nice place.

Disneyland is exactly the thought that crossed my mind! I agree with you that ASC is a nice place and it is nice to see new and innovative ways to make a shooting range more appealing to the general public, but I just cannot get visions of a "theme park" out of my brain. DMG.

Purchasing group managing partner Ed Arrighi

I believe this gentleman is/was a professional clay shooter based out of Houston.

I believe you are correct.

Let's hope this bodes well...

This explains why I wasn't chased to re-up my annual membership.
Along with being flooded so much last year.

I hope it works out well.

I sure hope that they quit charging by the gun on the pistol / rifle range. That business practice is ridiculous!

Oh my...

I live about 5 miles from ASC. It's a nice place if you only take a couple of guns per trip.
