This is so deeply dissapointing to me. I've been renovating my new house on weekends for the past year and a half. Next on my list was to go through the course catalog at APG. I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and just was looking for their web site to check out the course list. Son-of-a-gun. Ok, gotta start over. Who else in North Texas offers 1) good tactical training, even with military instructors/students 2) has extreme long range rifle ranges 3) offers IDPA ?

I'm coming from North Dallas.

Not sure about IDPA, but Tac Pro has a 1,000 yard range and good instructors. http://www.tacproshootingcenter.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks! I hadn't heard of Tac Pro. That might do nicely.

Here is another school I came across. Run by a former Delta force operator. I haven't explicitly seen it yet but they may only take LEO.

That's CSAT, Paul Howe's training center in Nacogdoches. Absolutely first rate, and he does offer some non-LEO classes. For a few years up through 2008 or so, he stayed so busy with LEO training obligations that finding an opening in one of his scarce non-LEO courses was well-nigh impossible. That's opened up now, and he has a regular schedule of classes offered.

Mind you, this is not next to Greenville, nor is it a public range. It's a defensive/combat shooting school.

Thanks for the info skipper. I realize this is only training which is fine. As long as I don't have to fly across country (gets expensive) I just want to know that I have access to good tactical training within a couple hours drive. For that matter, it doesn't have to be in Greenville. I was just hoping within 2 hours or so of Dallas.
