Want to meet up at PSC or in the SE Houston/Galveston area?
Hey everyone. I'll be in Galveston for a wedding in June and wanted to see if I could get together with some of you fine folks for some shooting time at PSC in Friendswood or any other range nearby. The wedding is on 06/16, but I'll be in town Thursday afternoon and all day Friday (the 14th and 15th). I'd love to meet some of you and put faces to the names I see here all the time. If there's someone who is a PSC member who could have me as a guest or anyone else who wants to shoot and knows a good range nearby, let me know and we can arrange something.
Anyone interested?

I live in Galveston. Unfortunately, the Galveston Rifle and Pistol Club doesn't allow guests to shoot. The closest public range is Texas City.
If you would like to meet for coffee or something, my e-mail link works.
P.S.: If you're the least bit interested in aircraft, try to get to the Lone Star Flight Museum. It's one of Galveston's best-kept secrets.

Sure! I'll see if any of the PSC members want to invite me out to shoot.seamusTX wrote:I live in Galveston. Unfortunately, the Galveston Rifle and Pistol Club doesn't allow guests to shoot. The closest public range is Texas City.

And yes, I like aircraft. Do they really have a B-58 there? My dad was in SAC and flew them as a navigator. I've never had the chance to see one up close yet. I wish they had a picture of it that showed the numbers, so I could ask him if it was one of the ones he flew.

I'm sure their web page doesn't lie, but you can e-mail or call them to check. Sometimes the planes are sent on tours or lent out.NcongruNt wrote:Do they really have a B-58 there?
The place is run mostly by volunteers who are enthusiasts. Many of them are veterans who flew the planes that are there.

Yup, the B-58 is there on loan. I talked to my dad, and he's been there and seen it. Unfortunately, it's a TB-58 model where they put a second pilot position in place of the navigator position for training, so he's never been in one of those - being a navigator and all.seamusTX wrote:I'm sure their web page doesn't lie, but you can e-mail or call them to check. Is this the Texas City Municipal Range? Apparently holsters are against the rules there. Do you know how they handle CHLers wanting to shoot their carry guns?seamusTX wrote: The closest public range is Texas City.
I was considering trying Clear Creek in League City, but a short google search returns an immense number of complaints about the place.
It seems you're hurting for a good public range worse than we are here in Austin.

You have to bring in your weapon unloaded with the action open. No holsters. They enforce the rules strictly.NcongruNt wrote:Is this the Texas City Municipal Range? Apparently holsters are against the rules there. Do you know how they handle CHLers wanting to shoot their carry guns?
You would have to unload discreetly inside your vehicle.

I guess there's no takers on PSC... I'll bring a little bit of practice ammo in case someone decides to speak up. It looks like I'm not going to get into town until Thursday night, so it would have to be Friday during the day sometime, preferably earlier. I'll try to check my PMs between now and Friday morning in case someone wants to shoot.
