Best Shot Range Sundays 6-8

#1

Post by fm2 »

We are getting started back up this Sunday. We will work on drawstroke and run some shooting drills. I am thinking on working par time from compressed high ready, and part of CSAT pistol standards. So about 118 rounds of ammo, pistol, belt, belt holster, 2 spare magazines, eye protection and ear protection.

Had some good practice tonight working on malfunction clearing drills, movement & shooting, and some near far drills. Next Sunday we'll continue with malfunction drills, and cover reloads.

We will be working with flashlights tonight. We'll try out about 4 variations of holds, and shoot drills using them.

Hi Ferrell,

It's about time for me to get back into training and the 18th. sounds like a good time to start. :thewave

I have a question though: would it be OK for me to bring a non-participating "Observer" to the session. My 20 year old grandson wants to get his CHL but has never fired a gun in his life. (He recently emigrated here from Germany where the gun laws are real simple, ie. "Hand Guns Verboten.") I want to get him into Matt's next "Learn to Shoot" class but I'd also like him to see the type of continuous practice it takes to be safe out in public. Also he needs to see that although it's as serious as a heart attack it's also a great skill set to master and entertaining too. I think he has gotten the impression from people at work that all you have to have is plastic in one pocket and a 1911 in the other and you're good to go.

Hi Gerry,
Yes, that is fine. It was good to meet your grandson yesterday. The 25th will probably be more entertaining for him.

March 25, we will run our scenario event. Expect to use all the techniques we have worked on, safe gun handling, use of cover, one handed shooting, flashlight, marksmanship, movement, decision making, etc...

This will mark the end of this training cycle.

April 1 - We will start up again. We will work on draw stroke, talk about gear, (gun belt, holster, mag pouch, etc...) and shoot some drills.

April 8 - Easter Sunday, We will be OFF.

April 15 - We will continue working on drawstroke & drills.

We had a good group tonight working on malfunction clearing, using cover, and a little one handed shooting. Because of holidays, teaching obligations, etc... we will be OFF til June 3. Then we will work on one handed shooting drills.
