Rifle range in South Houston ( or anywhere reasonable)

#1

Post by cubbyjg »

Hey guys, i am needing some help finding a range i can take my new rifle to zero in and try out. I dont shoot as often as i would like so becoming a member at PSC, etc is not an option right now. Are there any ranges around South Houston that dont require memberships and are dont require you to shoot single shot? I live in Pearland and dont mind driving a reasonable distance. So far, i have found American Shooting Center (Katy), Clear Creek Gun Range, and Texas City Gun Range.

The closest one to me is Clear Creek Gun Range and i am hesitant to go there after calling them to find out the operating times and spoke with a person who was unprofessional and sounded really grumpy/angry that i called. Im not trying to bad mouth the place but the little things like that are something i take into consideration.

Im not interesting in long distance shooting and this rifle will be for plinking and SD. So the longest i might consider shooting it is 100yds. Thanks for the help.

PSC is still the place to go to, as a member or a guest.

I am not a rifle guy, or I would offer to take you.

I am sure if you make a post on the forum asking for a volunteer to be your member to take you in, someone will probably offer up and take you.
just show up on time, bring your own ammo and work with your member for anything else you need to bring

Bailys House of Guns has a 100yrd range, they are not the nicest of people there . Havent been in 18mths since the lady accused me of stealing , and didnt say sorry after her employee told her it was his mistake and I had paid. Texas City has nice place only been a few times. The clear creek one was rude only time I went there so havent been back either.

The Clear Creek range can get a bit on the Range Nazi-ish side of things now and again. Pistol range is rarely crowded. One thing I HATE about the Clear Creek range is the 'per gun' charge. It's not like I can shoot more than one at a time. If they'd stop that, I'd likely go there more.
