American Shooting Range and steel casings

Does anyone know if they allow steel casing ammo here in Houston? I would call but alas, they are closed. Thanks guys.

Been going for years and they've never inquired about my ammo.

I've shot everything except Incendiary rounds.

Looking on their website - there are no restrictions such as "brass only". The only mention of ammo they have under range rules is to make sure you are using the correct ammo for the firearm you are shooting.

Does that mean they its okay to use the dreaded *gasp* Full Metal Jacket? I just wish there was a public range in the Fort Worth area that would allow you to use it...sorry to thread jack, but its nice to see some places use common sense.

You have outdoor ranges Up North that don't allow FMJ ammo? Bizarre.

I've shot Steel, Brass, FMJ, JHP, etc all there no problem. They don't care what you shoot, as long as you keep it going downrange :)

Some people say ASC is expensive, but IMO they maintain an excellent setup. They've always been friendly and clean when I've gone there.

I've heard a few complain about it being expensive but I think it's on par with the ranges inside the loop plus it's outside which is nice.

Plus, you're fee is good for the entire day, its not just a one hour fee. You can shoot some in the morning, go eat lunch, run errands, etc., and then come back in the afternoon. I have actually done this myself when I am planning my day around kids soccer games, and other things. They do charge for extra guns, though., which kind of sucks because shooting the same gun all day long can get boring.

I shot at American for years but the price is too dear for this old boy, I sure am glad I found Hot Wells on hwy 290. $7.00 per gun any number of shootrs you want, I take my wife and 3 kids and we all shoot for $7.00 for the whole day.
Not bashing American but with todays economy that relates to more reloading supplies and more shooting.

I got to ASC for long guns. It's a decent setup for rifles, and I love their Sporting Clays.

I won't set foot around their handgun area though. Way too many MORONS. I've been swept by one too many muzzles. The lack of walls between shooters is just asking for trouble. Too many beginners and idiots (they're not the same thing), who have issues when there's a jam or malfunction of their weapon. Even just loading and making ready... they'll point it sideways. It's crazy.

Also, I hate the "no rapid fire". It seem to vary what that means, but the fasted I've ever shot without getting yelled at was about 1 round every 1.5 seconds.

I've never heard of any range banning steel casing. Steel core bullets, yes. But not the case.
