looking for a range in south austin (update)

im looking for a range in south austin, with good price, and most important, a friendly staff which i find lacking at the current range i use

There is Red's Indoor Range is in South Austin, the Lone Star Gun Range in Lockhart and the Austin Rifle Club in Manor.

The Austin rifle club requires you to be a member but membership is relatively inexpensive. It is not staffed.

I have never been to the other two but I have never been to a gun range with a completely friendly staff. I imagine dealing with unsafe gun handlers on a regular basis will make you a little grumpy.

I will not ever go back to Red's, the last time I was there I rented a Glock and was shooting when the RCO came up to me engaged me in conversation about how the glock is the greatest gun ever made and the reason I cant shoot it well is because in his words "I suck at shooting" While I may not be perfect I think my 244 on the chl test speaks for its self (would of been a 249 except one ftf ) The look on his face was priceless when I picked up my ruger and put three shots though the same hole on the target. I have found a new range, the Lone Star Gun Range is a fine facility with a great staff and plan on giving them many years of my business.
