Gun Rental in Houston area
Hello everyone from Iowa,
I used to live in Beaumont and do some IDPA shooting in the area, but moved to Iowa a few years back.
I have a co-worker that is going to be in Houston for spring break and was wondering if there were any ranges in the area that he could rent comes guns to take his kids shooting.
I think he wants to stay with handguns.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks
John

Re: Gun Rental in Houston area
I think most of the ranges in the Houston area have rental guns, but the issue may be if they allow children to shoot with the parents or not.
if you can be specific of the area they will be at, I am sure more people will have better suggestions

I will ask to see what area they will be in, but they are on vacation so they will be pretty mobile and able to go just about anywhere.
I am pretty sure they are going to Galveston one day so they will be on the south side of town.
Thanks

Re: Gun Rental in Houston area
Gun Rental is $6 plus ammo. Only one gun rental charge and multiple guns can be shot. All ammo for rental guns must be purchased at the Range.
Several models available including .22, .380, .38, .357, .40, .44, .45, and .500.
Youths can shoot if a responsible adult manages their shooting session - We typically do not charge for kids when their parents bring them to the range - it's great to see a parents and kids learning to shoot.
We can provide a .22 rifle (peep sight or scope) at no charge for youths, as well. We have shooting benches on lane 1 and lane 10 for the kids to sit and shoot from a rest.

You could also try Best Shot Range off I-45 and 2351 in Frendswood (about halfway to Galveston and two miles West). They have special youth programs and I believe they allow children with a parent present to shoot. You would have to check with them at:

On the north side Spring Guns and Ammo has a nice selection of handguns and rifles for rent.

Good folks at Best Shot. Range is not as 'new' and hi-tech as The Arms Room, but it's clean and well kept. You have to look for it to find it, but it's worth the trip.
The Arms Room is newer, bit more expensive, but they do let kids shoot (with an adult). They have a fairly extensive rental fleet. Don't know about .22s though (I have plenty of my own so don't need to rent). The Arms Room does IPDA on Monday nights.
