I was in Plano and met a friend there about a year ago and they didn't have AC. After and hour were were sweating through everything and ready to leave. Nice place but way to hot.

They have AC. It was probably just down at the time.

The range is not air conditioned. The ventilation system would defeat the A/C and just push the cool air it out the back. They are working on getting the system to push more air in the hopes it will help keep it cooler, but it gets pretty hot there in the summer evenings.

The drawback of pushing too much air downrange is keeping your targets still. I personally always thought that was a plus as it gave me something to blame my bad shots on. "rlol"

The "system" in place when I was there was a fan on the back wall behind each shooting station. I'm glad to hear that it's some better now.

Another good reason to hit the place in the mornings. I am always long gone from there by lunch. It probably hasn't had a chance to warm up yet while I am there.

The moving target thing makes for good combat practice... :biggrinjester: .

I have been here many times and like shooting here for handguns and when I need to test a rifle cycling if I have non magnetic ammo. they just remodeled and A/C is working.

The Bullet Trap
Website: http://www.bullettrapinc.com
Phone: (972) 881-0372
Address: 2608 Avenue K, Plano (between Park and Parker)
Hours: Mon - Sat: 10:00 AM - 8:30 PM Sun: 12 Noon - 6 PM
Fees: Non-members: $16.99 per lane 1 person - $28.00 per lane 2 people - $4.00 children under 16. Members: $7.00 per lane 1 person - $14.00 per lane 2 people - $4.00 children under 16
Highlights: INDOOR RANGE. Full service gun store, rental guns available. 18 pistol, and 2 rifle lanes. 25yds or less. Bench/seated or standing (no prone or kneeling)

Mostly handguns but have 2 - 25 yard rifle lanes. 2 rifle lanes let you shoot NON magnetic ammo. Will not let you shoot 22 rifles on rifle lane. Will need to go to handgun lanes to shoot 22 rifles. Rifle lane backstop will not stop 22 ammo but will stop all the big stuff (cant shoot 50cal).

FMJ rifle is allowed but must not be magnetic. Surplus rifle rounds are usually magnetic and they will be tested before you go into the range with a magnet.

I shoot there about once a month. Good place to shoot, I go after work and never had to wait on a lane. The people there offer excellent advice and are not out to make a buck. One of them actually talked me out of selling my gun and taking a loss on it. I am taking my class there Aug 17th :cheers2:

I was there a couple of weeks ago on Saturday, around 11am. I was sweating so badly while shooting that I was having a hard time getting a good grip on the pistols (stock Springfield parkerized 1911 full-size with smooth front strap, and a 4" XD .40 S&W). Nice range - but pretty toasty on the firing line. Combine the gunpowder all over my arms, which transferred to my forehead, which transferred to my white t-shirt - I seriously looked like I'd been working on my car all morning by the time I left the range. Good times - hoping to take my wife there tomorrow...

Don't forget, Friday night at Bullet Trap is family night. Members of your immediate family shoot free after 5. Great time to show the wife a good time shooting. ;-)

I took my CHL there, and I've bought a used shotgun too. However, what I love the Bullet Trap the most for is that they stock holsters (real holsters like Galco!) and accesories like factory magazines and parts. If you need a holster, they're the first place I'd try (and the range is nice too!). The staff is real professional as an added +.
Just my 2 cents...

Bullet Trap in Plano is alright, I won't say great because IMHO the range isn't what it could be. Most of the employee's are good but there are a couple of them with real attitudes but they have so many employee's you see someone different each time you go. I much prefer the open range in Garland, for one thing they will let me shoot my 500 and other large caliber weapons no questions ask. They have a large number of new guns but they get premium price for them. From time to time they do get some decent consignment deals in though.

Garland Public shooting range is the cheapest, but no FMJ, and the place is quite busy. I recommend going when its raining. Hardly anyone goes when it rains so thats when I usually go. After your membership its 10 bucks.

I shot there 9mm FMJ, maybe no FMJ for rifles. The best place to shoot in good weather.
