Just wanted to let everyone know that we have cover over all our ranges now. Shade from about 11 till 5:30! We have 16+ 25 yard spots and 12+ 100 yard spots available to shoot from. We are right at 18 miles from ABIA. For what you can spend in 4 hours at REDS you can come to our range as MANY times as you want for 12 months!! Look us up! www.ctxpta.com

How did that go? I was out there during the range cleanup and did a little shooting after that on the pistol range.
I believe there is safety in numbers..
numbers like: 9, .22, .38, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 6.5, .30-06...

It went quite well - we got there at about 11:30 and the cleanup was done. I had already prepared him that we might need to do some work first and he was looking forward to it. Oh well, I guess we will have to wake up earlier and actually get moving if we are going to do that.

He had a lot of fun. We were the ones on range "A" doing mostly .22LR rifle shooting - although he did want me to fire off a mag with the AK and he had fun watching that as well. It was a great first range trip, but even my smallish rifle was too large for him. I'll have to get a dedicated youth rifle I think. I call it a win because he was safe and had fun.

That's great news to hear. I'm glad that he had a good time. How old is your son?

6. His birthday was in May. Daughter is 3 and has a few years to go before I sign her up for a junior membership as well. Then it will be just the wife who isn't a member.

Kalrog,
I was over on range B shooting my 1911's. I didn't notice who was over on A range. I didn't stay long, I was tired after the workday. I'm there almost every month, it's actually kind of fun. Maybe we'll see you out there next month, but I might be on vacation so .... whenever.

If you want to meet out there some time let me know.

I'm (finally) getting moved back to Austin next week. I work 14on 14off in Louisiana, so any time I am home I am game for shooting! Shoot me a PM if you want to get together.

Anyone still around in North Austin?

We have a self-defense training group in far north Austin, almost to Pflugerville/RoundRock that meets twice per week.

The focus is on self-defense, first avoiding the criminal attack, then access weapons, and fighting if necessary.

If you guys don't mind someone who's still learning, I'd love to find a regular shooting buddy or 7. Would be a good way to get my butt to the range more often, get some practice, and make a friend or two. I'm sure I could learn a lot from you guys as well. I live in RR and typically use either Best of the West (love their big bays) or Red's.
