Thanks, I'm pretty glad to still be around too. I was lucky and got a great job right from the start. Air refueling can get real interesting real fast so you'd better have your act together.Jim101 wrote:Boomer,
You had quite the tour. Glad you are here.... Our son has been in the A.F. for 5 yrs. now in A.G.E., he loves it..
Thanks,

being military trained now a days does not say much when you have a grip like that. IMO anyway.Psyillirabbit wrote: 2- Guy in our group is shooting a pistol, and has been literally since he was a kid, military trained, etc. Walt ambles on over again telling him that he "can not shoot like that" and that he will injure himself. Mind you, this is how this guy has shot his pistol all of his life including military matches. (He used a left thumb on the right wrist, which if positioned wrong MIGHT have gotten him a slide bite, but has not done so in YEARS.)
Agree that Bass Pro is fine for standing target practice at 3-25 yds.mgtx wrote:I live in the Flower Mound/Grapevine area, and Quail Creek and Bass Pro are both about 15 minutes away from me. Would you guys recommend Bass Pro over Quail Creek? I am younger and new to the world of firearms. The handgun I want to shoot (the subcompact XD 9mm) is my first handgun. Previous guns were my dad's so this is the first one I have bought on my own.
I have shopped at bass pro before and I dunno if it was my band tshirt, the fact that I was younger, or the fact that I had long hair, but the guy at the handgun counter acted like I wasn't going to buy anything and that I was some sort of problem or hoodlum. I asked him if he had a type of gun and he said "NO" in a tone that said "go away".
I worry that they'll freak out on me if I stroll up to Bass Pro with a gun case and boxes of ammo. People see a young guy with long hair and they immediately assume he's a druggie or a depressed angry kid out to cause trouble.
Anyway, it sounds like Bass Pro will still be a better choice than Quail Creek.
