Bass Pro Shooting Range

Anyone been there? We were at the Bass Pro store in Grapevine. Really nice place (it was my first time there), but I didn't know they had an indoor pistol range. I just happened to have my gun in the car, so we took advantage.

It's a really nice range. Clean, in good working order, very nice people (Nice to meet you Gene, if you ever see this).

The cost was $10 per person, per hour. No membership required, well, I did have to fill out a small paper, but there is no extra cost. They only have 7 lanes, so there was a bit of a wait, not too bad though. Only 2 were not working. 1 was waiting on a part of some type, and the other..someone shot off the target holder earlier in the day, it was just too busy to replace right then. No worries.

Anyone know if Cabela's has a range? The one in Ft. Worth?

I was there this morning - taking my CHL class. Very nice indoor range - though I have nothing to compare it to as far as indoor ranges go.

I LOVE Bass Pros range. fully digital target lengths??? dunno what else to call it. You type in how many feet u want, hit send and zoom there you go. beats trying to gauge on a line painted on the ground. Friendly people. I'm just mad Gaylord sold its stock in bass pro. I loved shooting for $4/hr. Bought a new 1911, took it there to shoot, was met by the guy behind the register with open arms. He helped guide me through the field stripping process, lubrication points, and even took time to go over possible upgrades and why.

Any idea if they will allow me to rent a 1911? I've never shot one, and am seriously thinking about buying on in the next few months.

I shoot there all the time. It's relatively close, well ventilated, well lit, etc. The ND holes in the lane dividers are a little worrisome...

Yeah the Grapevine Bass Pro range seems nice. No firearm rentals / test-firing (I asked last time). They also have a single-lane 100yrd rifle range available by appointment only. BTW, the last shooter is allowed on the range 2 hours before the store closes.

Speaking of ND holes... While I was there, in lane six, I was sighting my target and in my right-hand peripheral vision I saw a chunk of something black flying down the lane. Lowered my gun and looked; it was a chunk of acoustical foam and I could see the gouge in the wall ~10ft down the lane where it had came from. The guy in lane seven had been shooting a 22, and shot tight groups at 30ft to 50ft, so I was pretty surprised.

Rentals would be nice. Their gunsmiths are knowlegable too

Bass Pro (Grapevine) is OK. I really prefer Winchester Gallery over on Lancaster & Loop 820. They have an excellent selection of rental guns. Elm Fork Rifle & Pistol Range over on Luna Road and 114 (in Dallas) has totally up-graded their facility and it's one of the best out-door ranges I've seen in a long time.

I shoot at both Bass Pro and Elm Fork. Elm Fork is great for outdoor shooting particularly with all the improvements they have made. They could improve their hours of operation. Bass Pro is a very clean range and just recently started allowing use of silloutte targets which I like. Both places have very helpful staff. Both are good places to shoot.

I shoot at both Elm Fork and Bass Pro, but my wife and I recently joined DPC, which is only a few miles further away, but which allows us to go whenever we want between sunup and sundown, and I don't have to wait for a shooting lane. Also, I don't have to deal with range fees since my membership covers all that. Plus, steel plates and multiple targets is way more satisfying than one paper target, with another shooting banging away 3 feet from either ear.

However, Elm Fork and Bass Pro do have one major advantage, and that is shade - which is in short supply at DPC.

My CHL class went through our shooting qualification last summer at the Grapevine Bass Pro pistol range. It is one of the better-maintained ranges I've seen.
