Re: My first shot at Kydex

Op - looks good. If I may just add a word of advice to help: make sure you are leaving some room in the holster so it is not a skin tight fit. For example - if you use a heavy tube sock when fitting and molding it will give you some room to help avoid any marring on your firearm. This is not as impo...

Re: How do you carry your spare mags?

100% Pocket Carry - 1911 Commander 8 rounder with an extra 8 ready to go - for me it is more comfortable than IWB magazine carry. Grab and go easy.

Re: Ranges in Ft Worth

Indoor ranges - I like Shootsmart and also On Target. Shootsmart is my first choice because its only 5 min up the highway from me. Great folks, lighting on the lanes is good and air circulation is good. Outdoor - I prefer Alpine Shooting range to all other OUTDOOR Ranges in the Ft Worth area.

Re: buying off internet

online has been good to me. typically I like to buy and walk out the door, but over the past year I have been able to snag some good deals online. heres the thing though with gunshows - you really have to know what you are wanting to buy AND willing to pay. shop around and see what there is. take th...

Glock 30 or a 1911 Commander -

both are multi need friendly - carry, hd, range - all good to go.

Re: Carrying & Showing your CHL

Howdy! If I'm NOT carrying a handgun and I get pull over by a police officer, should I show him my CHL? Is it mandatory to have the CHL with me at all times, even if I don't have a handgun on me? Thanks! God Bless! It will take you an extra couple of seconds to pull out your chl w dl. I would hand ov...

Re: 1911 magazine

I have had great success with ACT/Novak Mags and also Powermags by Chip.

The ACT mags I have are well built and have been every bit as dependable as the powermags.

Re: CC a 5" 1911?

I will carry a commander 1911 on occassion - must have a proper belt and holster set up for all day comfort. A fullsize gun can be a great ccw but you have to put some thought into what you are doing - wardrobe, belt, holster, carry position. When I take these things into account I find carrying a 1...

Re: Bad sign walk off

I like to think of it more like the "no soliciting" signs posted at the entrance of business and residentials alike - useless at stopping solicitors For chl holders it does nothing without 30.06 or 51% posted on it correctly. If you have your chl move on - if not - my question is why dont ...

Re: Good DPS Stop

Good to hear - it always surprises me when others have such a terrible experiences. Esp here in Texas when the process is so much more, well lets just stick with more, than other states - Fingerprint, background check, 10hour educational requirement etc.

The truly dedicated CHLer will get liposuction to create a cavity where his or her sidearm will fit. :banghead: why didnt I think of that lol I generally go with pants one size up only because I prefer to be comfortable and wear polo shirts. I can squeek by using my standard pants but the...

Re: Motorcycle carry need advice

when on my hd I wear a specifc vest for carry - so many options in denim and leather that you should be able to find what you are looking for. I switched over and found that it to be very comfortable on long rides. no concerns about printing or about a firearm falling (not that it has ever done so b...

Fingers crossed for you that it all works out now. Not to beat a dead horse - but I'm going to just because.... I remember back in the day when 3-4 months was a good turn around time lol. I know it is hard to laugh about it but someday you will (only because its on the way). Please keep us updated o...
