Re: April 2011 Applications
Congratulations, Ice Life! I suppose that the River Walk will do just fine as a suitable substitute for the Wally Walk. Are there a lot of 51% signs posted? I really didn't pay attention until I learned about "the signs" from the CHL class.
Have fun, and I hope that you have a good, comfortable holster. I'm still getting acclimated to carrying...actually went out and got another holster for one of my guns today to see if it would work out better, and so far, it has.
Your mail is definitely quicker over there. Glad to hear that you're good to go now.

Re: April 2011 Applications
Congrats to those who received their plastic!
Hang in there, guys--the plastic will be there shortly after it goes to the manufacturing pending/manufacturing/mailed steps!
I must say that I will be on a quest for a good holster. I've been having some trouble finding one (for any of my firearms) that is comfortable. Right now, it's a cheapie Uncle Mike's IWB for my Sig P238HD. Heavy little bugger, but doesn't seem to bother me like the subcompact Glocks I've been collecting lately. I got some OWB holsters for those, and probably just have to find some different clothes to get those things under control.

Re: April 2011 Applications
First purchase with the CHL:
Glock G30SF
Ended up with a Blackhawk CQC OWB belt/paddle holster for this one to start off with. Speer 230 gr. Gold Dots for its food. No, that's not the pic I use for my avatar--that one is a Gen4 G27 with Trijicon HD sights (orange outline.) The .45 came with the Glock factory night sights installed.

Re: April 2011 Applications
I'm from the next town up from Austin, so I'm hoping that today or tomorrow there'll be something in the mailbox.
If not, I'll be busy barbecuing at the house and shooting at the range. I've been wanting to shoot some of the other ammo I've got in my boxes -- .22LR, .380, .357 Sig, .45ACP. Here lately, I've just been firing 9mm and .40 S&W, since that's what's readily available at a good price around here.
Good luck to the fellow April Team members! Is there a pool for this bunch? I'd buy a few squares if there are some still available

Re: April 2011 Applications
Went home at lunch to check the mailbox and didn't find any plastic there.
Perhaps tomorrow will be the day. Meanwhile, at least there are some firearm-related shipments coming in today from Amazon:
- Hoppes .22 bore snake for my Browning Buckmark
- Stack On drawer safe for another safe place to put the guns while I'm not in the house

Re: April 2011 Applications
Nothing but pre-approved credit card offers and some coupons in the mail.
*sigh*
Perhaps tomorrow will be the day. I even had my coupon ready to go pick up my first CHL-verified purchase with no wait time!
Yes, it will have to be tomorrow. More to come.

Re: April 2011 Applications
Congratulations, to both of you! My mail usually gets delivered between 09:30-11:00, so there should be something good there soon. I received my GSSF discount coupon for 2011, along with some repair parts from Lone Wolf Distributors, so today's/tomorrow's delivery will be the icing on the cake.CobraRon wrote:Looks like I'll be standing by the mailbox with you; mine shows mailed this morning too.Iunnrais wrote:Looks like we're both on mailbox watch =) Mine switched to mailed this morning as well.
I'll post pics of the rig along with the plastic when it gets here.

I know what you mean. I'd check the site from home several times a day, from my iPhone several times a day...Ice Life wrote:Arrrghhhh, another week gone by and no status change on the DPS web site.
Still stuck with the following status:
Background Check : Under review
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review
