Well, that is not the most that could happen, which is why I will never ever go to Costco. Google Costco and Erik Scott and shooting. A CHL holder legally carrying was murdered by Las Vegas police because the Costco employee reported him in such a way that the police thought they were dealing with a crazy man. Costco's videos mysteriously didn't work that day during the shooting, so we'll never know the truth of what happened. Erik Scott was a West Point grad, Army Captain and veteran and was shot multiple times by multiple police officers. I blame Costco, because they were the ones who escalated the incident and hyped it to the police which created the situation that led to his death.

That's my interpretation of the known facts. Others will differ with me. But for me, I will never darken Costco's door, and I will never again go to Las Vegas.
There is the where it went wrong first. This can happen by anyone calling the police from anywhere at any given time. It just happened to be at costco.

Re: Costco ?

As long as there is no sign, or other legal means of notification, I will CC there. Only thing I have to loose is my membership. I am willing to risk that to be able to protect my self if needed.

My understanding is that we're given "effective notice" in the membership agreement.. If they keep that around, which they probably do, CC'ing and having a problem would be bad.

There is a loophole though - my wife got our membership. I've never signed a thing. However, I know it's their property and respect the rules in "their house".
Doesn't written notice have to be worded exactly like the sign?
A written notice must be the exact wording of 30.06 or 30.07. Only difference in it is there is no sizing requirements if it is not a sign.

(3) “Written communication” means:
(A) a card or other document on which is written language identical to the
following: “Pursuant to Section 30.06, Penal Code (trespass by license
holder with a concealed handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H,
Chapter 411, Government Code (handgun licensing law), may not enter this
property with a concealed handgun”; or
(B) a sign posted on the property that:
(i) includes the language described by Paragraph (A) in both English
and Spanish;
(ii) appears in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in
height; and
(iii) is displayed in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public.

Re: Costco ?

It does not meet Texas requirements as a notice. But it does show that it would be smart to only conceal there. However they state they will not customize there policy to meet local law.
Edit to add- They can also cancel your membership at any time.

Re: Costco ?

Personal Firearms/Guns in Costco Stores
Costco Wholesale is a membership-only warehouse club. It is not open to the general public. It restricts membership to a limited group of qualified individuals who agree to membership conditions. We have the right, and the obligation to our members, to enact and enforce membership rules. The Member Service Employees at the exit doors are obliged to follow these rules. By obtaining a Costco membership card, our members agree to comply with the Membership Rules and the Privileges and Conditions of membership.

Costco does not believe that it is necessary for firearms to be brought into its warehouse stores, except in the case of authorized law enforcement officers. For the protection of all our members and employees, we feel this is a reasonable and prudent precaution to ensure a pleasant shopping experience and safe workplace. Our policy is meant to protect our members and employees in all warehouses around the world. This is not a new policy and we do not customize the policy for each individual city/county/state/country where we do business.

Our primary goal at Costco Wholesale is to keep our members happy. If you believe that our policy restricting members from bringing firearms into our warehouse stores is either unfair or excessively burdensome, or you cannot agree to abide by this policy, or you are dissatisfied for any other reason, Costco will promptly refund your annual membership fee in full.
