Re: Houston: Police officer in shootout on west 610

seamusTX wrote:A uniformed Houston police officer driving his personal vehicle was traveling north on I-610 near Market around 3 a.m. today when he heard gunshots and saw a passenger in a vehicle pointing a weapon at him.

He attempted to follow and identify the vehicle. The occupants first tried to evade and then stopped and tried to shoot and run over the officer, who had gotten out of his vehicle.

The suspects got away. The vehicle is identified as a tan Chevrolet Silverado with dark, tinted windows. The officer got only a partial license plate number: CN followed by either a 2 or a 7.

No motive is known.

This area is not on anyone's list of garden spots, and now even 610 is more dangerous than I thought.

Curious, I wonder if the officer was a random target or if he was wearing his uniform or anything else that marked him as a Police Officer. I am glad that the officer was alright and I hope they catch bg.
