Re: "Waiting Room"
Just submitted my renewal app last week. I clicked on "we'll try an use existing fingerprints/photo's on file" and paid. A the end it still printed me out a checklist saying telling me to send in my documents. No application change currently. I can't call DPS and ask them if the applicatio...

Re: The rocky road to becoming a CHL Instructor
I want to thank you guys for all the great information. Being 28 years old, I plan on teaching for a long time as my side job(plenty of people at my work & my parents work are already fronting me money to take a CHL or basic shotgun course). Some updates, I am checking into NRA certification fir...

The rocky road to becoming a CHL Instructor
I've got the funding, means and everything else set...but From reading weeks worth of material, I've come up with this so far. Before I apply to the DPS CHL Instructor website I need to have the following in my portfolio(as so I am not rushing to get every class taken at once)... 1. NRA BIT Class 2....

Re: Considering Federal Law Enforcement Service...opinions?
With a degree in geology and math, you want to get into federal law enforcement? Seems like a waste of talent to me, and I'm not being facetious. I understand. I'm just one of those guys that if not properly motivated, gets bored easily. I can say that even with my college courses. There have been ...

Re: Considering Federal Law Enforcement Service...opinions?
Thanks for all the helpful the info. I have done work for the EPA but as a civilian contractor. Making money in the petroleum industry just isn't going to do it for me. Besides with what is coming down the tech pipeline for petrochemical industries, the job outlook by retirement age is grim. Im glad...

Considering Federal Law Enforcement Service...opinions?
Just wanted some opinions. I'll finally graduate with a degree in Geology and Mathematics this year and I'd like to join some sort of Federal Law Enforcement branch(most require a Bachelors degree, planning on an upcoming Masters Degree). Anyone have any tips or opinions on the subject? I have stell...

Re: Gunfire during Dark Night Rises
I don't know if this has been posted before....I'm in a hurry. People said "lets ban .223/5.56 AR-15s. It's a military round" Is the argument invalid if he changed the upper to a .308 or something more exotic? or an 7.62×39? 30.06 is a hunting round, but people still user M1 garands! I thi...

Re: Shooting test
there was one guy at the range that did that in a private CHL class. He was definitely using a .38 k-frame revolver. Absolutely no shots in the 5 zone and the instructor told him, better practice some more. The target looked liked someone got a shotgun and unloaded with a shell of no.8 shot at 15 ya...

Re: Defense of Property with or without CHL
and just to ask, is there something that is holding you back from restoring the fence? if they were that big of a concern that probably would be my first step :tiphat: yeah, the insurance company still stonewalling us on restoration costs from hurricane Ike. $4000 to replace the fence, which at any...

as a Geologist/Mineralogist/Stone Cutter, Jared's are one of the most overpriced jewelery stores in town. If you and your ladyfriend are looking for good stuff, go to a small mom and pop's dealer....They all carry the same crap but the smaller shops always have unique items.

Re: Is the NRA as "pushy" as they once where?
Every time I go to a gunshow I get asked to join....as I would, but they have to get all political and start naming names. While this is their right, it kinda turns me off to the whole group. Having an NRA booth spouting anti-gov language in my case is a no-no as it kinda goes makes us gun owners an...

Defense of Property with or without CHL
So.... with Hurricane Ike 3 years down the toilet, my yard fence is still damaged. Luckily the neihbors still have chainlink fences surrounding our property. However, here in lies the problem. Both our backdoor neighbors and our next door neighbors have huge dogs. Irish wolfhound mixes and the backd...

I quit using PDX ammo because they didn't group as well. Switched to Magtech and Hornaday....which in my opinion are nail-drivers for me.
