My purpose in posting this was to see what you guys would do. I only carry in my truck when either going to the range after work, or leaving a pre-established radius around my house (which is larger than I'd like, but I have to deal with my wife). However, I regularly go shooting after work, so this could have just as easily have happened when I was pulling in the parking garage with my 1911 under my seat. I don't carry pepper spray, but I have the 6-D cell mag light under my seat, as well. Hadn't considered using it. My thought was to lower the window, open the door and, from behind the opened door, draw and tell the guy to stop. Definitely would keep my distance and keep him covered until the lady's life became immediately endangered or the police showed. Interesting to hear others' ideas.

What would you have done?
I work downtown Houston, and when I drive to the office, I park in a garage across the street. I received this e-mail from our corporate folks yesterday. The event occurred before I got to the office, but I'm wondering what I would have done if I'd seen the situation. What would you have done?
This morning at about 6:48 am a homeless man decided to lay down across the hood of a car entering the [parking garage]. If that was the end of the incident all would be good, but he got off the hood started arguing with people around him, and next thing I saw he had grabbed a woman and was in front of my car with his hand around her neck. A construction worker got her free without further problems but the disturbance continued as I got my car off the street and into the garage. Please note the police did not arrive until slightly after 7:00, plenty of harm could have taken place in that amount of time, and by that time the person causing the problem was long gone.
