Re: USAA and 30.06
BTW, USAA probably has low auto insurance rates because their members hit and run. My wife's car was hit last year in the school parking lot. I witness wrote down the license plate number. Our insurance company, State Farm, tracked down the address. I had the police confront the lady at her house and she confessed. USAA reluctantly paid for the damage, and did not apologize or act as though the person did anything wrong by driving away. I'm a member of the bank but not the insurance. They could have cared less. I took the car to the USAA approved shop and the bumper had to be repainted 4 times and was still not right. An inspector finally came out from USAA and again could give a hoot. Work was OK, but not great. They used fake bumper parts or refurb parts instead of new genuine Toyota parts. Probably devalued our car. Not impressed by USAA response and don't care attitude.

Re: USAA and 30.06
I'm glad more people are becoming aware of this. USAA anti-gun stance, not paying hardly any interest on the first performance saving account, not being competitive on rates for car loans and mortgages, etc. is not helping their reputation. USAA used to pay bonus interest on accounts over $50,000, but not anymore. I started using Randolph Brooks FCU and FirstMark CU for car loans instead of USAA. advisor.google.com has much better mortgage rates. I just refinanced for 15-years at 3.75%, no escrow, no points, and no origination fees. USAA could not do that. What is really funny is that you can carry in the Texas Capital but not in the USAA lobby. Who is really full of themselves? If I withdraw say $10,000 cash I should be able to carry. USAA has a few rent-a-cops but they are directing traffic or talking with each other in the corner and not really paying attention to anything. I wish USAA well because San Antonio needs the jobs. However, they have definitely gone down hill in the past 5 years and don't even seem to care what the members think. Like I said previously, I have been with USAA for 20 years and have already started phasing out credit cards, etc. You can find better deals else where.

Re: USAA and 30.06
I've been a member at USAA for nearly 20 years. The service is good. The 30.06 signage was only recently posted at the lobby in San Antonio. It replaced the fake gun sign with circle and slash through it, which could be ignored by CHL holders. When I asked the security guards, they replied it was standard at all banks to not allow concealed carry in the lobby. I pointed out that was not true and gave them Frost Bank as an example.
Very disappointed by the new policy, I wrote a respectful letter to the president of USAA, David Bohne. His assistant called my house and left a message on my answering machine, even though I did not include my phone number in the letter. USAA obviously looked up my account, etc. This is the written response that I received a few days later on official USAA letterhead:
Thank you for your letter concerning signage displayed at the USAA Federal Savings Bank lobby. I appreciate the opportunity to respond.
While we recognize the civil statutes granted under the law, we have adopted the policy of prohibiting a person carrying a firearm, licensed or unlicensed, from entering our financial establishments. I regret the misinformation you received when you inquired about this matter. Our policy was put in place as a matter of consistency with the policy of all our campuses and financial services centers. We take our responsibility to all who enter our establishments seriously and want to minimize the risks associated with the presence of weapons in our business environment.
We value your membership with USAA, and your feedback is well taken. Thank you for allowing us to serve your financial needs.
Sincerely,
David Bohne
President
