Your CHL does away with background checks when purchasing a new handgun
I did not present my CHL the last time I bought a handgun and if they did a background check it happened so quickly that I didn't notice.

You can legally carry your handgun with you while you drive
No, the point is, if I value my job, which I do, and I my employeer does not allow me to keep my weapon in the car in the parking lot, then I can NOT carry it for protection while I drive there in the morning and home in the evening (or during lunch). Nor is there really any public place to park anywhere near where I work. Additionally, our building has a single, unarmed "guard" in the front lobby. Past him/her, it is open season on the rest of us with very limited points of exit. :???:

No, I can't be arrested for keeping my CCW in the car, but I could lose my job - whether the handbook language was 30.06 compliant or not. Funny thing is that the building itself has no NO-GUN signs 30.06 or otherwise, which sure seems to say to me that non-employee CHL holders ARE allowed to carry there.

And since the handbook says "weapons" rather than firearms, specifically, that means I can't even carry a knife or pepper spray.

Unfortunately, not all of us are in a position and/or time of our lives where we can risk losing our jobs. Like I said, it is just frustrating.

What is the point of CHL?

Why bother with the time and expense of getting a CHL when so many places are "off limits"? For example, the mall closest to me is marked with 30.06 signs. My company's employee handbook says you are not allowed to have ANY weapons anywhere on company property, including the parking lot or at any company sponsored event. (however, "weapon" is not defined anywhere - so I don't even know if I am breaking company rules by having a pocket knife on me). :mad5

Doesn't feel like there are many places I CAN carry except back and forth to the range. whoo hoo!

I guess I am just feeling a bit frustrated.
