Re: Home defense - birdshot, buckshot or slugs?
Good point on how many layers of sheetrock will "X" load perforate? Anyone remember why down south they used to be called "shotgun houses"?

Re: Colt AR15 Government model
Just my personal opinion, but I loathed the M-16 when I was in the Army. Piece of crap, prone to jams. I therefore won't even entertain any variants of this crap carbine. The US Army needs to get a proper battle rifle, like the G-3. Carbines might be fine for door-to-door and city fighting, for fie...

Re: Colt AR15 Government model
I was talking to a friend the other day about a Colt AR15 government model. He was sharing how much better these rifles were over other AR's. So I looked up the government models and did not find any characteristics that really make it stand out fron other Colts. So, do anyone know the main distinc...

Re: Stupid, Inexperienced Long-gun-Guy Question
Curious here, and I know this is diverging slightly from the topic, but with this stoppage/jam/malfunction, are you referencing the stoppage induced by having a round stuck between the bolt and the shell lifter, with the bolt closed? I ask, because I'm not conceiving of how a double-feed requiring ...

Re: Mossberg 500 Upgrade project!!
Screw that! It needs a Dish satellite / cable remote control, a keyless remote starter for the vehicle, and the "essential" GGG sling mount / bottle opener!SF18C wrote:Needs a shell holder, laser light, bi-pod and a BulletFlight calculator!
Looking good!

Re: Would you buy it?
Here's where he talks about his acquisition of it in 2008 (no purchase price given): http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-bolt-action-rifles/2098-new-jewel-my-collection-ai-l115a2.html . His username on that site is "Starvin." Anyone who would spend that type of money on a rifle and ...

Roger that. Got one on each of my shotguns. And no, I do not shoot hogs with my shotguns.carlson1 wrote:Moby this is a little pricey, but I have been using the Surefire for at least 10 years on my 870. Works terrific and not at all hard to install.

Re: Green Lasers
Laser won't help you I.D. the potential threat. Neither will those sexy, glow in the dark night sights. Only a white light flashlight or weapon mounted light will do that. Unless you like shooting things that you have not positively I.D.'ed.

Re: FAL case failures
Methinks it was shitty ammo. Sometimes, cheap ammo is not such a bargain if it blows up your favorite bang stick. I avoid steel cased ammo like the plague, unless it's been zinc plated like MFS or Hornady. I will not let anything resembling a varnished steel cased round anywhere near my weapons.

Re: Would you buy it?
I think the new world record was set by a Canadian trooper shooting a hand built McMillan .50 BMG. But I could be wrong. Interesting that in any case, it took some pretty sophisticated weaponry and optics to beat Gunny Hathcock's record set by TIG welding an Unertl scope to the side of a Ma Deuce. H...

Re: Stupid, Inexperienced Long-gun-Guy Question
I have a Mossberg Maverick 88 Security with 18" barrel that i've owned for almost a year now. I've put over 100 rds of birdshot and 00 buck through it. I can tear it down and put it back in less than a minute. It's the only long gun I have ever owned and the only other experience was with a lo...

Re: +P ammo questions
Don't recommend +P for polymer framed small handguns or alloy framed handguns. A good quality steel gun handgun, while heavier, should be able to consume a steady diet of +P loads with no damage to the handgun.

Re: Instructor shot at TDSA, Ferris TX?
This was a most unfortunate situation and brings back memories of the Navy SpecWar member that was shot while standing outside the shoothouse at MidSouth the second week in February, 2008. I hope the injured person recovers quickly and completely. Both situations could have been prevented. The unfor...
