Thus, this latest effort isn't precedent setting or are you thinking such special consideration is on the increase that will somehow negatively affect the average citizen?

I never liked it and felt the same way about it before as I do now, so nothing has change in that regard. While maybe not precedent setting, it seems to me like it's on the increase, pretty soon if your dog bites the city dog catcher you are facing hard time.

I can see overzealous authority trying to apply this beyond what it was meant for. I get into a fender bender in the parking lot at City Hall with some beaurecrat of another race who works there and it's a hate crime? How far will it go?

Senate passes Cornyn, Cruz resolution condemning Dallas police shooting

I'm not against cops or the government, (the cops are part of the government so to me they are the same). I am simply against creating a special class of people. The notion that the goverment thinks anyones life, especially theirs, is worth more than someone else's is troubling. I don't like it anymore than when politicians pass laws that apply to me and you but not themselves are when justice is applied unequally (reference Hillary Clinton not prosecuted for felony crimes). It is that kind of mentality that fosters the culture of government abuse.

I don't think the president, politicians or LEO's live are worth more than mine or yours, do you?. Everytime an incident occurs, a law is passed and some little piece of freedom is lost or government power is gained.

Could what is on the surface a feel good measure have other implications down the road???
