Austin Un-American Statesman's Gun Grab Rant
Of course the Austin Un-American Statesman's editorial board is opposed to guns. The best part of the article is the comment section. Some very well written comments. I would not be surprised if some of those comments came from my blood brothers on this site. Anyway, have fun and feel free to opine:...

Re: Carrying at the Post Office
It is ironic that one of the places you need a gun the most is the post office?!?!? People have been known to "go postal" at the post office.

Re: Guns around the house
Wally 775, All of the advice you give is good. And I DO carry my pistol pretty much 24/7. However, if I have the time, I go to ole' Bessy. Bessy is a Remington 870 12 ga 3". I have several hidden in my house. False door Jams are a door to a place where Bessy lives (She has a sister too). Cannot...

Re: Guns around the house
I'd say one on your hip should suffice. I don't have my CHL yet (I turn 21 this month) but carry on my belt while I'm at home. At night it's on my nightstand and my shotgun's next to the bed. I think putting guns around the house, kids or not, is irresponsible. Guests or invaders could happen upon ...

Re: Keep Austin Weird Festival
There's a "Keep the Weird in Austin" Festival? Yes, it is sick!!! I am a native born Austinite. Live here almost 50 years. It keeps getting stranger by the day. We do not need a festival for this. Just go down to Guadeloupe on the t.u. campus and you will find plenty of weirdoes. I want t...

Re: Metal Detectors in the Capitol
That is a good question. Will I have a wand waved over me, and the detectors go off if I want to stay with my 3, 6, 9 and 13 years old boys??? Maybe I will do a dry run with the 13 year old to see how it is handled.

Re: Metal Detectors in the Capitol
Thanks Charles,
I appreciate the quick and excellent reply. Are these "express lanes" at every entrance?

Metal Detectors in the Capitol
The un-Amreican Spaceman ("newspaper") here in Austin has an article today about metal detectors are now at the Capitol. Will they stop me if I try to enter with my CHL and handgun??? Just wondering.

Re: Legal for Police to lie?
Even destruction of evidence gets tricky. Usually the officer will get in, get everyone and take them outside , and then make them wait while a warrant is sworn out. gigag04, It looks like you see my point now. We must of had a "failure to communicate". At least I get to go outside and wa...

Re: Legal for Police to lie?
So I do know the laws and my rights. Again, I will tell it to his "magistrate". I understand you think you do - however, there can be reasons where police can get in your house without a warrant. If you know the laws why do you continue to stand by an incorrect position? Here is what I sa...

Re: Legal for Police to lie?
Hey Annoyed Man, My rant was not at you either. I am, just a little sensitive about police not knowing the law. I was almost arrested for legally carrying a gun in a state park. The only reason I did not get arrested, is because I happen to be with this LEOs cousin. Since I am good friends with the ...

Re: Legal for Police to lie?
I will not rant, I just will reply to some of what you said: The cop was not asking to come into the guy's house. He was asking him for ID. World of difference. My reply: I consider my wallet part of my "house/personal" property. So, if I am not driving, you cannot look at it, unless I am ...

Re: Legal for Police to lie?
Annoyed Man, I agree with you on most points. I have seen that video about a year ago. I love it. I have shown it to my sons. He probably should have shown his ID. However, I like the defiance of authority. I would have said, "yes I have a firearm, so do you"! It must be the freedom lover ...

Re: Boy Scout leaders and carrying (Question)
In full disclosure, I am and Eagle Scout. In addition, I am currently a Cub Master of a Scout Pack and an Asst. Scout of a Scout troop. I have read the Scout policy on guns. It is against the rules to carry?!?!?! I have made the decision that I will carry, as I need the ability to protect my childre...
