Smart. Why build and entirely new infrastructure when you have a good one already in place. CHL instructors generally do a good job here in Texas.jmra wrote:No. The current CHL is the only requirement. That same misinformation was in a Yahoo article. Don't know where it's coming from.stash wrote:I read an article in the Christian Science Monitor this morning re the Texas house passage of Licensed OC. Among other things, the article indicated that the legislature opted to require a special open-carry permit for which owners would have to apply. I don't recall seeing anything about a special open carry permit in SB17 or HB910 or amendments put forth on Fri. Did I miss something or what?

From a practical standpoint, doesn't this mean that you are handed a ticket which you may pay an automatic $200.00 fine, but if you want to go to court to argue the point, you then may face a misdemeanor A instead of misdemeanor C?casp625 wrote:The default violation would be a Class C and could be upgraded to a Class A as applicable.(a) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder:
(1) carries a concealed handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, on property of another without effective consent; and
(2) received notice that entry on the property by a license holder with a concealed handgun was forbidden.
(d) An offense under this section is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $200, except that the offense is a Class A misdemeanor if it is shown on the trial of the offense that, after entering the property, the license holder received notice as described by Subsection (b) and subsequently failed to depart.

Is that a real possibility? That would be better than icing on the cake!jmra wrote:TXBO wrote:If the 30.06 amendment passes the Senate, it's the most rewarding element of the whole bill for me.![]()
I probably won't OC much, but it will be nice to know that if I miss a 30.06 sign while CCing I don't have to worry about facing a Class A.
Assuming it passes as is.
