Not just your sights can go down either. Was on a hunting trip last fall with a buddy of mine and the mount on the scope on his AR-10 failed. No BUIS on his rifle so we ended up moving the scope from my 1895 to his rifle leaving me with the stock Marlin irons. Which reminds me that I need to do something about the 1895....(That scope is now living on my MAK-90). The Marlin sights work, but not well for my eyes.The Annoyed Man wrote: You should mount some BUIS anyway, not as an afterthought. Even though I've got an ACOG that requires no batteries, I still have BUIS.........just in case. Without them, all you can do is "point" your weapon. You cannot AIM it.
