Re: Call to Action: New Mexico

...that makes more sense...about 85% of our currency would test + for cocaine traces, I've read several times...and, once a dog hits on drugs, the other items might show up...even at the high school level, a hunting knife, bow and arrows, or gun or shells in a locked vehicle should be safe from search...but then I'm not one of those zero tolerance kind of guys...I believe educators should stick to educating, and quit pokin' round on the parking lot...when I was a cop, I caught as many college professors and school teachers whiffin' wacky weed as teens...those WERE different days, though...sad to say...

Re: Call to Action: New Mexico

...I have never understood how a dog can smell a gun or ammo through a steel/glass car door...I know they can detect a drop of urine in a mollion drops of water...but that's just a stretch for me to believe...not knowing anything about police dogs...except they hired a couple and put 'em on day shift about 6 mo. before I quit policing...

Re: Call to Action: New Mexico

...the financial cost will have to do it...forget reasoning with them or reminding them that our fine young men/women put their butts on the line for us all...it's gotta cost 'em money...

...as to the resident alien part...I think the rights of American citizenship should be conferred along with the citizenship...once it is earned...

...just reported the change to the NM Dept of Tourism, who weren't aware of the change...I politely told her that it would cost NM serious tourism $$ and they might want to make some calls to see about it being rescinded...she was polite and interested 505-827-7400

Re: Call to Action: New Mexico

...that DPS # goes to a special investigations office...may not be the number we want to focus on... the 2011 Traveler's Guide lists 505-841-8053 for CHL matters...maybe the Chambers of Commerce and Tourism would put added heat on the Gov...it's all about $$$...we've never cost them any as responsible CHLers, and we've spent more than a little, between vacation, business, and hunting...the law looks like last revised in 2005---what triggered this change...???

...got a real human at both Gov's ofc...(did sound tired) and the AG's ofc...I was polite and so were they...just the recording at the DPS #...their web page shows they share that #...
