Re: Pocket Pistols in 9mm - Good Idea, or Bad?
...I thought, years ago, of only carrying a Jsnub to church...convenience...but when I thought of why I'm carrying it and how important accuracy would be in a more crowded setting...full-sized is my choice...I've carried the P90 and P97 and a backup...plenty of ammo...without a problem...concealment starts between the ears...even a Bible case can hide a full-sized weapon...just don't put it down...

Re: Pocket Pistols in 9mm - Good Idea, or Bad?
...raised my three just fine with them knowing I had some till they were old enough to shoot and know where they were...8 years old is when they started...my youngest's had his own .38 since 12...now he's 18...youngest youngun 'round here's 3, and ain't no way in Texas that one's gonna get to the stashed guns...half of it's in the training your children, half is in how you hide them...kids don't get so excited about them when there's no mystery...mine handled them since about 5 to know the difference in the feel between real ones and toys...my boys were safer growing up knowing where they were and how/when to use them than had I had them locked away...Divided Attention wrote:Hide a box of cookies or candy there and see just how long it takes them to find it. No place is sacred to youngsters. Cookies/candy won't hurt them too bad, but I sure would rather be safe than sorry, and not have them unsecured when off my person. ...bottom line is, whichever way you choose, be serious about it and do it like it matters...it does!!!

...might make a good gun to stash in the kitchen...or laundry room...we keep those we don't carry often loaded and placed around the home where those who know can get them no matter what room they're in...just an idea...

...thank God, I don't have arthritis , but a note for those who do and ladies with weaker hands...it takes a lot more strength to hold the gun and yank the slide back and drop it than it does to hold the slide tightly with the weak hand and push the gun away with the strong hand till it pulls the slide out of our weak hand...try it and see the difference...hope it helps...the main thing is that the slide closes under full spring pressure and you don't ease it down...

Re: Pocket Pistols in 9mm - Good Idea, or Bad?
...I love the .45...but the small ones like Kahr would be a lot more bulk than a 9mm, and the 9mm ammo has really been improved, so that even with the shorter barrels, you can still pack a potent punch in a small package...a subcompact 9mm with a DAO trigger would be a good buy as a BUG...not, for me, a primary...having 2-4 more rounds than the 2" J in .38, and being as small or a bit smaller would be a plus...I wouldn't take a .380 as a gift...but the recoil of a subcompact 9mm would be worth what it would provide in a bad situation...there are 2 or 3 smaller than a Kahr that are quality...maybe one will be in my future....a good backup for a P95...
