glad to hear you finally heard something, and i'm impressed that they're actually going to hold your file as opposed to making you start the process all over againjmoney wrote:Well I finally managed to get ahold of someone, I miscalculated my 5 years from the infraction, and went with date of arrest rather than date of deferred adjudication, instead of declining me and making me go through the entire thing again, they are holding my file until the end of the month when I am eligible, and issuing it then. I must say that is very nice of them.
so 24 more days and then I can start rushing home to check the mailbox again.

Re: waiting, still worried about application stuff..here is
how many days has it been since they received your application? i'm sure i've read it somewhere but don't remember at the moment
and just trying to play devil's advocate here, but i would think that if these people took the time to return every phone call and/or email they receive about someone's status, they wouldn't have much time to actually work on the applications

my last email went 3 days before i got a response... i know it's frustrating, but just give it a couple days, you'll probably hear something back soonjmoney wrote:24 hours and I still haven't heard back, gonna have to call again in the morning, really thought I would have gotten a call back in at least 24 hours
right now i'm waiting for that poor mailman that has to walk from Austin to Houston with my envelope. he left friday so i'm thinking he should be here by the end of the week. maybe they should give these guys schwinns, it would cut down the time it takes from "mailed" to our mailboxes.

Re: waiting, still worried about application stuff..here is
definitely worth giving them a call. i was getting close to the 60 day mark myself so i sent an email and got a response back from one of the people that does the background checks saying everything was good to go. i never did have to provide any court documents for my arrest, probably because it was a juvenile offense and expunged from my record. but definitely send an email and give them a call. i hadn't seen any change in my status for quite a while, but when i sent an email i got a response back within 2 days saying everything was good to go. my status changed to "mailed" over the weekend. good luck.

any updates? have you heard anything from the DPS or are you still in the "background check under review" stage?

yeah my instructor told us to list any and all arrests but didn't tell us to include notarized copies of court rulings or anything like that. i guess this will probably delay my application, hopefully i'll get a call or a letter soon explaining what they need me to send in.

Re: waiting, still worried about application stuff..here is
did they contact you and ask for a notarized copy of the court record, or did you just send it in with your application? reason i ask is because i have a similar arrest (possession of marijuana) but i was a juvenile when it happened, received deferred adjudication, and after 6 months probation the incident should have been expunged from my record. i did include the arrest on my CHL application and i'm wondering if they're going to contact me for some sort of documentation since it shouldn't come up in the background check. the arrest was 11 years ago, not sure if that makes any difference.jmoney wrote:I applied right after christmas because I had to track down a notarized copy of a court record for some silly possession of Marijuana charge I got way back in 2005 when I was just out of highschool.
